FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
Launched in 2001 by Holland Jachtbouw to designs by Hoek Design Naval Architects, WINDROSE is one of only four Truly Classic 65s built. She pairs the long overhangs, teak decks and varnished mahogany interior of a classic yacht with an aluminium hull and a modern cutter rig with in-mast mainsail furling.
After sustaining damage to her forward interior sections, she underwent a comprehensive refit between 2015 and 2017, with her forward sections rebuilt to Lloyd's Register standards. Since then, she has been maintained on a fixed annual programme of varnishing, teak deck treatment, engine and generator service, sail inspection, and antifouling. A steady stream of upgrades to her navigation, electrical systems, sails and equipment has been carried out since 2019, with more planned for winter 2026/2027.
Set up to be easily sailed and manoeuvred short-handed, with a hydraulic in-mast furling mainsail, hydraulic sheet and running backstay winches, backstay adjuster and boom vang, and a 25kW hydraulic bow thruster, WINDROSE retains the traditional keyhole cockpit, keeping the family and guests close to the helm without being in the way.
Below decks, WINDROSE's saloon sits just abaft the mast step and opens to the galley, with the chart room and navigation station at the companionway. The high-gloss mahogany joinery, maple floors with mahogany inlay and white grooved ceilings are lit by five skylights, and the layout offers a forward master stateroom with island double berth and ensuite bathroom, two aft guest cabins beneath the doghouse and a crew berth in the forepeak.
Her specification highlights include:

MANUFACTURER’S BACKGROUND:
Holland Jachtbouw was established in 1990 in Zaandam, the Netherlands, and moved from traditional wooden vessels to aluminium yacht construction after taking over Dutch Built in 1998. It has worked closely with Hoek Design Naval Architects of Edam, which designed the majority of the yard’s yachts.
The Truly Classic range combines classic lines with modern aluminium construction and rig. Four Truly Classic 65s were built: Espada (1994, Dutch Built), Joy (1999), WINDROSE (2001) and Schwanensee (2008).
PRESS REVIEW:
“…timeless grace above trendy austerity, and speed without the constraints of rating rules.”
“…quickly picks up waterline length as she heels.”
“The traditional keyhole shape of Windrose’s cockpit allows family members proximity to the helmsman, without being in his way…”
“Soft blue velvet upholstery contrasts with the honey-varnished mahogany bulkheads.”
“Five large, well-placed skylights bring in loads of sunshine and, in lighter weather, fresh air.”
Dudley Dawson, Yachting Magazine, 4 October 2007
