Compact family boat with cabin: beginner friendly and easy to trailer

The Caminada 4.7 is a boat for uncomplicated hours on the water. 5.00 m of length, a sheltered cabin with the helm inside and an open cockpit behind it: exactly the right format for small families. An afternoon out for four, a swimming stop in a quiet bay, or the run across to the restaurant on the far shore.

For newcomers the engine is the strongest argument. The Yamaha four-stroke outboard delivers 8 hp (6 kW), which means the boat may be operated in Switzerland without a boat licence. Getting into your first own boat does not get any simpler. The engine runs quietly, uses very little fuel and takes those first mooring manoeuvres in its stride. The 25-litre tank is good for long days on the lake, and the shallow 0.50 m draft opens up the quieter stretches close to shore.

At 600 kg displacement and 1.92 m of beam the Caminada 4.7 stays fully trailerable. It travels behind an ordinary tow car and can be launched single handed at any slipway, so no permanent berth is needed. And if you are looking for one, the slim beam works in your favour: the boat fits into narrow berths that wider craft can no longer use, which widens the search noticeably. The boat holds a Lake Constance permit, and according to the owner an electric drive is possible.

On board you can see how carefully this boat has been looked after. The cabin puts you at the wheel under cover, with a front screen that lifts open for ventilation. Behind it sits the open cockpit with wine red upholstery and stowage under the seat bases, certified for 5 people. The light coloured top can be raised and closed off completely with its side panels, so a change in the weather does not end the day. Stainless steel handrails, navigation lights and the rope rubbing strake that runs right around the hull give the boat its own character and protect the topsides when coming alongside.

The boat lies in Horw on Lake Lucerne and can be viewed there by appointment. A trailer is not included in the price.
