The Piana 30 was conceived and designed as a simple, accessible boat that allows sailors to experience the advantages of a catamaran at a reasonable price. The design focuses on excellent sailing performance, including upwind, achieved through a light and durable construction, high stability, and low wind resistance thanks to the slender cabin structure. The hulls offer standing headroom, while the central cabin provides seated headroom only, which may be a little less comfortable for tall sailors.
“Zazou” was professionally built under the supervision of designer Bertrand Desray, using marine plywood sheathed in glass and epoxy, and remains in remarkably good condition. The current owner purchased the catamaran in 2001 and has fully completed the equipment with modern electronics in addition to the existing navigation instruments. The central outboard engine is linked to the tillers. The accommodation offers space for six people inside and outside in the cockpit, and the helmsman has a dedicated seat on the wide side decks above the aft cabins. The radar mast is easily lowered.

Die Piana 30 wurde als einfaches, erschwingliches Boot konzipiert und entworfen, das Seglern die Möglichkeit bietet, die Vorteile eines Katamarans zu einem angemessenen Preis zu erleben. Der Schwerpunkt des Entwurfs liegt auf einer hervorragenden Segelleistung, auch bei Am-Wind-Kursen, die durch eine leichte und robuste Konstruktion, hohe Stabilität sowie einen geringen Luftwiderstand dank der schlanken Kabinenkonstruktion erreicht wird. Die Rümpfe bieten Stehhöhe, während die zentrale Kabine nur Sitzhöhe bietet, was für große Segler etwas weniger komfortabel sein kann.
„Zazou“ wurde unter der Aufsicht des Konstrukteurs Bertrand Desray professionell aus mit Glasfaser und Epoxidharz beschichtetem Bootsbausperrholz gebaut und befindet sich nach wie vor in bemerkenswert gutem Zustand. Der derzeitige Eigner erwarb den Katamaran im Jahr 2001 und hat die Ausstattung zusätzlich zu den vorhandenen Navigationsinstrumenten vollständig mit moderner Elektronik ergänzt. Der mittlere Außenbordmotor ist mit den Ruderpinnen verbunden. Die Unterkünfte bieten Platz für sechs Personen im Innenraum und im Cockpit, und der Steuermann verfügt über einen eigenen Sitz auf den breiten Seitendecks oberhalb der Achterkabinen. Der Radarmast lässt sich leicht absenken.
