1988 Amel Maramu, EUR 115.000,-

Tax Status: Papeetised/ Imported into French Polynesia, which means you can stay and cruise in French Polynesia indefinitely

“Jamesby” is a well-equipped bluewater cruiser. She was designed to be easily double or single handed with her split rig and deep center cockpit. She is built as a monocoque, her hull and deck were laminated together while in the mold. This makes her exceptionally strong and dry inside. She is comfortable above and below deck with her bulkhead helm station providing an open and spacious cockpit. Jamesby has been prepared for full time cruising with her owner giving focus to self sufficiency and comfort. She performs well and usually averages 6kts on passage. She is also equipped with Amel’s wonderful retractable bow thruster system that makes docking the vessel in tight quarters a simple affair.

Accommodations
5 Berths: 2 in the forward cabin, 2 in the salon and 1 double in the aft cabin.
The forepeak has a v-berth configuration with the port side having a fold out insert to make it suitable for 2 people to sleep. There are lee-boards for each berth. The main salon features 2 comfortable setee’s which make sublime sea berths with built in lee-boards that hide away when not in use. The port setee can also be made into a day-bed configuration if desired. The aft-cabin features a double berth with integrated lee-boards that make it great on passage for sleeping or storage.

Construction and History
Built out of fiberglass at the Amel ship yard in La Rochelle, France in 1988 Jamesby features robust construction methodology using top quality materials. She was built as a monocoque with her hull and deck being joined in the molds. This makes her a very strong and durable vessel. Amel is known for building strong and safe boats and many have made multiple circumnavigations.

She is equipped with a Lofrans Tigres windlass (2022), 70m of G43 high test chain (Dec 2019) and a 30kg Spade anchor connected by a Mantus anchor swivel (Dec 2019). There is a wired remote for the windlass located in the port bow locker and you can also operate the anchor winch from the cockpit.
She has had a progressive refit over several years, 2020-2023. Beginning in October 2020 with the renovation of the hull to repair a failed barrier coating applied by a previous owner. The hull was taken back to the fiberglass with great care given to not damage the laminate. Then the hull was fared with thickened epoxy and finally coated with no less than 6-layers of Interlux 2000e barrier coat. Other notable works carried out in this time period include the installation of the water maker in fall of 2021; new Acmo standing rigging, replacement of cabin windows and dodger windshields in February of 2022; Upgrading to Lithium, LiFeP04, batteries and a new windlass in spring of 2022; New stove in fall of 2022. There have been many other things upgraded or replaced as needed by the current owner.
She has had 5 owners over her life and has spent most of her time in the Caribbean where her current owner purchased her in late 2019. He spent nearly 4 years exploring the Caribbean before crossing the Pacific to French Polynesia in April 2024 and has been exploring here since.

Rigging
The standing was replaced in February 2022 in Martinique with Acmo rigging components. The starboard main chainplate was replaced in June of 2025. A new chainplate for the port side is onboard but has not yet been installed.
The masts are in-mast furling units made specifically for Amel yachts. The main and genoa are electrically furled while the mizzen is manually furled from the cockpit. The main mast features Amel’s proprietary downwind pole system that makes trade-wind sailing a pleasure.

Cosmetic condition of the masts: Both masts are in good condition and the paint is fair.
