"CAOBA" looks like a classic mahogany boat, but is not a traditional wooden ship in the classic sense. The boat is built as a modern wood/epoxy/fiberglass construction, where plywood, epoxy, fiberglass fabric and mahogany veneer are combined into a strong, light and protected structure. This gives the boat the warm, classic mahogany look - but without the traditional wooden hull that requires constant sanding, varnishing and sealing.

"CAOBA" is a unique Danish-built mahogany boat inspired by Ernest Hemingway's iconic motorboat "Pilar". The idea came about during a trip to Cuba, where master carpenter Per Mejer Rasmussen from Vordingborg saw the original "Pilar" and decided to create his own modern, planing and trailerable interpretation back home in Denmark.

The boat was built over 2,500 man-hours using plywood, epoxy, fiberglass fabric and real Honduras mahogany veneer. The result is a rare boat with classic lines, a mirror-like mahogany finish, modern usability and a documented history through coverage in Bådmagasinet and TV 2, among others.

"CAOBA" - a boat with history, craftsmanship and soul:
"CAOBA" is not a boat you meet every day. It is the result of a personal dream, years of experience with wood and a desire to create a vessel that would not only sail well, but also have character, history and a very special expression.

The idea for "CAOBA" came about during a trip to Cuba, where master carpenter Per Mejer Rasmussen from Vordingborg saw Ernest Hemingway's famous motorboat "Pilar". The encounter with the iconic boat was the starting point for an extensive building project back home in Denmark, where Per decided to create his own modern interpretation of the classic Hemingway expression.

The goal was not to build a direct copy, but to create a modern, usable and trailerable interpretation - with mahogany, long lines, a large cockpit and a clear touch of classic boatbuilding craftsmanship.

The name and the materials:
The name "CAOBA" means mahogany in Spanish, and the warm glow of mahogany is a key part of the boat's identity.

The boat is built with great respect for classic materials, but with modern construction methods, combining plywood, epoxy, fiberglass weave and genuine Honduras mahogany veneer to create a strong, light and beautiful structure.

The building process:
The build process was extensive and was executed with a rare degree of care. The hull is self-built over OSB form and templates, with a cold mold-inspired construction, where veneer, epoxy and fiberglass tissue form the basis of the construction.

This was followed by a lot of work with plating, surfaces, painting and the many custom details that make "CAOBA" something very special.

In total, the build took over 2,500 man-hours, which is evident in the boat's finish, construction and level of detail. From the mirror-like mahogany finish to the thoughtful hatches, cockpit solutions, cabin layout, pantry and custom-built details, "CAOBA" is created with a precision and care that is rarely seen.

The level of craftsmanship is evident everywhere on board. This is not a mass-produced boat, but a unique piece of Danish boatbuilding, where function, aesthetics and choice of materials come together.

Application and interior design:
"CAOBA" is designed as a versatile weekend cruiser, trolling boat and Big Game Fishing-inspired motorboat.

The large cockpit makes the boat suitable for living, fishing and day trips, while the cabin allows for overnight stays and cozy trips over several days. At the same time, the boat is created as a modern, planing and trailerable version of the classic motorboat look.

During test sailing, "CAOBA" was described as both fast and agile. With its Mercury EFI 150 hp outboard engine, the boat combines the classic mahogany look with modern speed, practicality and easy handling.

Featured in Bådmagasinet and TV 2:
The boat's creation and finished result has been featured in Bådmagasinet, where the building process was followed over several articles. The focus was on the craftsmanship, the choice of materials, the inspiration from Hemingway's "Pilar" and the many details in the construction.

"CAOBA" has also been featured in several media outlets, including TV 2, which emphasizes that this is a boat with an unusual and well-documented history.

A boat for the right buyer:
"CAOBA" is for the buyer who is looking for something out of the ordinary. A buyer who appreciates classic lines, genuine craftsmanship, proven history and a boat with personality.

You're not just getting a motorboat - you're getting a unique Danish-built vessel with soul, character and a story to go with it.

A rare opportunity to acquire a boat that combines Hemingway inspiration, Danish craftsmanship, modern building methods and a story that has already attracted attention in both the boating press and national media.
