Being a rarely available Oyster OM43, YLVA is arguably the best equipped Oyster currently on the market, benefitting from extensive service and upgrades completed in 2024/25.
FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
The Oyster Marine 43 (OM43) is a development of Oyster’s ground-breaking LD43 (Lunch & Dinner 43), designed to provide absolute ‘Oyster’ luxury for two couple or a family, with effortless performance thanks to her joystick and mouse-controlled Hamilton jetdrive propulsion system, negating the need for bow or stern thrusters and offering ample performance up to 30 knots via her twin Cummins 485hp engines.
While the LD43 was strictly a couple’s boat with just one main sleeping cabin, the OM43 provides two comfortable double/twin cabins, plus a large bathroom, complete with separate shower compartment. Her inside and outside saloon areas also provide ample accommodation with fantastic all-round visibility, and her fully-equipped electric galley combined with powerful diesel generator, and reverse-cycle air-conditioning/heating allows her to be used very effectively for longer stays aboard at all times of the year.
YLVA is the penultimate boat of the twenty LD43/OM43’s built by Oyster Marine, and the third of four OM43’s constructed at the legendary C.J Broom & Sons boatyard in Norfolk. Having had just two owners since new, and being based in the Baltic Sea for most of her life, YLVA has benefitted from a substantial refit and update in 2024/25 to overhaul, update and upgrade many of her systems.
In addition to her comprehensive refit, YLVA is fitted with professionally installed TDI tuning modules and corresponding engine management software, enhancing engine output and optimisation. As configured, the engines deliver an estimated approximately 501–518hp per engine, contributing to improved acceleration, responsiveness, and overall performance characteristics, while maintaining reliability when operated within manufacturer-recommended parameters.
The vessel is also equipped with a Garmin CCTV camera system, providing enhanced situational awareness during close-quarters manoeuvring, particularly when berthing. This system integrates with Garmin displays and supports remote vessel monitoring, allowing the owner to check the vessel’s status remotely via the Garmin ActiveCaptain ecosystem.
Her specification highlights include:-
Advanced composite construction using vinylester resin, E-glass, Kevlar and carbon fibre and with solid laminates beneath the waterline
Resprayed in Alexseal in Oyster Classic Midnight Blue
Preventative epoxy barrier to underwater sections
2x Cummins QSB 5.9 485hp diesel engines, originally rated at 485hp, upgraded via TDI tuning boxes and software to approximately 501–518hp per engine
Twin Hamilton 292 Jet Drives with joystick and ‘mouse’ controls and offering approx. 23 knots cruise and 30 knots maximum speed
Lithium-Ion service battery bank with Mastervolt charger
Mastervolt Whisper 6 5kw diesel generator
Garmin instrument package with touchscreen plotter
Radar
Garmin AIS and Garmin Reactor 40 autopilot
Garmin CCTV camera system providing docking assistance and remote vessel monitoring via the ActiveCaptain app

RECENT REFIT HISTORY
The combination of engine performance optimisation via TDI tuning, together with advanced Garmin CCTV docking assistance and remote monitoring, places YLVA among the most comprehensively upgraded Oyster OM43’s currently available. These enhancements complement the extensive mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic refit works completed in 2024/25, resulting in a vessel that is exceptionally well prepared for both owner operation and extended cruising.

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:
Combining traditional craftsmanship and good looks with modern design and technology; the LD43 was a groundbreaking Oyster motor yacht. Driven by twin Hamilton water jets with their unique ‘MouseBoat’ control system, the LD43 has unsurpassed manoeuvrability at slow speed and allows her to dry out for a beach party.
The LD (Lunch and Dinner) offered a comfortable and spacious layout with one double master cabin, while the later OM (Oyster Marine) version added a second twin guest cabin. Capable of 30 knot performance, we launched twenty examples between 2005 and 2011.
PRESS REVIEW:
World’s coolest boats: Oyster LD43/OM43
Each month we pick out an iconic boat that can lay claim to the title of world’s coolest boat. This month, we take a closer look at the Oyster LD43/OM43.
UK-based Oyster Yachts has been building beautiful high quality world-girdling sailboats for half a century. If you want the ultimate in production sailing yachts, Oyster is likely to be on your list.
What it is less well known for is motor boats. But not completely unknown because in 2005, Oyster decided to create a motor boat targeted specifically at its discerning clientele.
If you were an Oyster person at heart, but wanted more speed, convenience or perhaps were just finding sailing a little much, then this was intended to be your go-to choice.
Called the 43LD and originally built by McDell Marine in New Zealand, the name referred to the fact that it was a 43ft picnic boat (LD stood for ‘lunch and dinner’), which is why it had just the one comfortable cabin with a centreline double bed, the heads and an oversized galley on the lower deck.
Of course the LD43 wasn’t just about dining, it was about looking good and going fast and it did the former via a beautiful sweeping sheer line and a further swageline that swept from the top of the windscreen down and into the cockpit coamings.
It is a great looking boat. The latter was performed via a pair of 480hp Yanmar diesels linked, unusually, to Hamilton jet drives. The idea was to enable running in shallow waters and improved manoeuvrability, in fact this boat was fitted with one of the very first joystick-type controls, although it looked more like a computer mouse and was indeed called Mouseboat.
But the idea was the same, you move the mouse the way you want the boat to go and it converts that input into instructions for the steering and gearboxes, and away you go. The top speed was 30 knots.
In 2008 Oyster launched an OM43 version (we never did discover what OM stood for). Built by Broom Boats in Norfolk, it featured two cabins on the lower deck, moving the galley up to the starboard side of the saloon behind the helm.
The saloon roof moulding was modified with an extended overhang and engines switched to twin Cummins 480hp diesels, still linked to the Hamilton jets.
Only 20 were ever built, 16 of the LD version and four of the OM model, ensuring that this rare gem remains as exclusive as it is beautiful.
