1914 S/Y Sassan – 6 Metre R Yacht, SEK 400,000
S/Y Sassan – 6 Metre R Yacht (1914)
A beautifully restored classic with a remarkable racing and family history.
S/Y Sassan is a 6 Metre R Yacht built in 1914 at Neglinge shipyard in Stockholm, based on designs by Axel Nygren and commissioned by Gustaf Cedergren. She was selected to represent Sweden in the One Ton Cup in England the same year, a campaign ultimately interrupted by the outbreak of war.
One of a series of three sister yachts, Sassan stands out as one of the earliest Swedish yachts built with a Bermuda rig. She was later sailed extensively by the renowned yachtsman John “Glas Kalle” Carlsson.
After decades of varied ownership, including periods of decline, Sassan underwent a dedicated and extensive restoration completed in 2013 under the current ownership. The project brought her back to life with great respect for her history, supported by experienced craftsmen and specialists.
Since her relaunch in 2014, coinciding with her 100-year anniversary, she has once again proven herself as both a graceful sailor and a living piece of history.
Sassan offers a rare balance of authenticity, craftsmanship, and usability, ideal for someone who values classic yacht culture and wishes to be part of preserving it.
Specifications:
Length: 10.7 m
Classification: 6 Metre R Yacht
Labeled as “culturally and historically valuable” by the Swedish Maritime history museum.
Engine: Electric motor
Fully restored: 2013
