For decades, Sealine remained a brand that was based in the UK but enjoyed most of its success on the European mainland. Models such as the 30 Fly and the 285 Ambassador set the tone for the direction the yard would take.

Originally a British shipyard, Sealine is now one of the seven brands of HanseYachts AG. In 2014, production started at the main Hanse plant in Greifswald.
In the early 1970s, British engineer Tom Murrant was "not amused". He wanted to buy a powerboat, but none of the models available on the European market matched his expectations. So the self-declared perfectionist designed and built a 23-foot yacht himself, which in turn attracted so much attention around him that Murrant decided to found a small shipyard.
From Fibrasonic to Sealine
Only a short time later, Murrant brought two partners "on board", and the yard was able to increase its capacity significantly. The original yard name Fibrasonic Marine Ltd. was changed to C-Line. The final change of the yard's name to the thematically fitting "Sealine" followed in 1979.
For decades, Sealine remained a brand that was based in Great Britain but also enjoyed success on the European mainland.
The 30 Fly and 285 Ambassador models in particular made their mark.
Insolvency after the financial crisis
Shortly before the turn of the millennium, Murrant and his partners sold the Sealine yard to a British group of investors, which passed Sealine on only a short time later to the Brunswick Group, active in the powerboat sector worldwide. The consequences of the 2007-08 financial crisis cost the previously successful yard for sports and cruiser powerboats in the mid-price segment too many customers – Sealine filed for insolvency in 2013.
Hanse Yachts AG acquired the plans, models and production molds from the insolvency estate and revived the brand under its own management. Through the cooperation with British yacht designer Bill Dixon, however, the design stays true to its English roots.
A successful British-German partnership
Today, Hanse produces luxury outboard, inboard, sports, cruiser and flybridge motor yachts in the mid to high price range under the Sealine brand name. Owners describe the combination of British design and German boatbuilding as thoroughly successful.
