Hallberg-Rassy

Hallberg-Rassy – world-renowned Swedish yachts. No other series-production yard has made so many blue-water sailors happy. Outstanding sailing performance, solid construction, a high standard of equipment and comfortable space below deck are the hallmarks of the legendary HR yachts.

Dream yachts for long-distance cruisers

Hallberg-Rassy is the epitome of Scandinavian boatbuilding. Distinctive features: a center cockpit on many models, a wind and spray screen, an aft cabin and blue sheer stripes.

Hallberg-Rassy was created by the merger of two gifted boatbuilders whose yards had previously been competitors. Harry Hallberg was designing and building boats as early as 1928, but only started building custom boats (built to customer specifications) after the Second World War. It was not until the 1950s that Hallberg moved into series boatbuilding.

Made in Sweden – with German “roots”

In the early 1960s, the young German boatbuilder Christoph Rassy moved from his “home waters” on Lake Constance to Sweden. He worked as an employee at a shipyard, but in his spare time he built racing boats whose designs were widely praised and won awards at competitions.
Rassy's talent also paid off financially: after just a few years he took over the old production halls from Hallberg, who by then needed larger premises for his series production of fiberglass boats.
Today's company, Hallberg-Rassy, was founded in 1972, after Rassy took over the financially struggling Hallberg yard.
The yard is now run by Magnus Rassy, the second generation. Since the yard was founded, around 10,000 yachts have been delivered up to 2020 – and that worldwide: because Hallberg-Rassy, or HR yachts, stand for the ultimate in blue water sailing, there is hardly a long-distance cruising harbor anywhere in the world without at least one Hallberg-Rassy alongside the dock or at anchor.

An investment for life

The consistently high level of quality maintained over the years has also given older Hallberg Rassy models an extremely high resale value. Even models from the 1980s are still sought-after purchases today, because with good care these sailing yachts show no apparent signs of serious ageing. The yard has also largely stayed true to its own styling over the years. The DNA of a Hallberg Rassy is unmistakable in every size class – whether it is the 31-foot entry-level model or the 64-foot flagship.
