Die SAN ist ein 16 Meter Trimaran von Neel (Bezeichnung Neel51). Sie eignet sich hervorragend zum Blauwasser-Segeln. Ihre Eigner segelten mit ihr in die Karibik, durch den Panamakanal bis nach San Diego und zurück über die Azoren, weiter bis ins Mittelmeer. Durch die Größe und als Trimaran ist die SAN ein sehr sicheres Boot, gleichzeitig aber kann sie auch schnelles Segeln. Die SAN hat ein Dyneema-Rigg und einen Racing-Baum und Mast aus Carbon. Bis zu 20 Knoten sind möglich, 12-15 Knoten im richtigen Wind macht sie problemlos als Cruising-Speed.

Das Boot ist während der Reisezeit stetig aufgebessert worden, eventuelle “Kinderkrankheiten” eines neuen Bootes wurden behoben. Beispiele der individuellen Zusatzausrüstung: Tagestank, genügend Solarpaneele und Li Batterien für autarkes Ankern und Nachtfahrten, Blitzschutz für die Elektronik, verstärkte Befestigungspunkte für einen Treibanker, Befestigung für Parasailor.

The SAN is a 16 meter trimaran from Neel (designation Neel51). She is ideal for blue water sailing. Her owners have sailed with her to the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal to San Diego and back via the Azores, on to the Mediterranean. Due to her size and as a trimaran, the SAN is a very safe boat, but at the same time she can also sail fast. The SAN has a Dyneema rig and a carbon racing boom and mast. Up to 20 knots are possible, 12-15 knots in the right wind is no problem as a cruising speed.

The boat has been continuously improved during the cruising period and any "teething troubles" of a new boat have been rectified. Examples of individual additional equipment: day tank, sufficient solar panels and Li batteries for self-sufficient anchoring and night sailing, lightning protection for the electronics, reinforced attachment points for a floating anchor, attachment for parasailor.
