The Limburgia tugboat is a characteristic example of Dutch wartime shipbuilding. Built in 1942 by Gebroeders Boot in Leiderdorp, this robust motor tugboat was used for heavy-duty work: towing ships from DBG-Ruhrort along the Rhine to Mannheim and back. Originally equipped with a 300-hp steam engine, the Limburgia underwent a major modernization in 1963. Since then, she has been powered by a powerful Brons 8ED 8-cylinder diesel engine producing 500 hp, reaching 335 rpm—an impressive piece of engineering known for its reliability and characteristic sound.
