FORGUS 31 – CLASSIC SWEDISH QUALITY YACHT WITH EXTENSIVE UPGRADES
This 1976 Forgus 31, “Shiba”, is a solid and capable Swedish-built sailing yacht that has benefited from numerous important and valuable upgrades in recent years.
Major improvements include new teak in the cockpit and KiwiGrip deck coating from 2024, a new Silva compass from 2024, sprayhood and cockpit enclosure by Andersens Boatwear from 2021, an oil-fired heating system from 2021, Targa II wind instruments from 2021, a Raymarine autopilot from 2020 and a Garmin 721 chartplotter from 2017.
She is also powered by a 1996 Volvo Penta 28 hp diesel engine with saildrive and a two-bladed folding propeller. Overall, this is a classic quality yacht in which considerable investment has been made in comfort, navigation, deck equipment and technical systems.
The Forgus 31 was built in GRP by AB Ellös and will appeal to sailors who appreciate traditional lines, good stability and solid Scandinavian boatbuilding. With a length of 31 feet, a beam of 3.20 metres and a draught of 1.65 metres, she is well suited to day sailing, weekend cruising and longer holidays aboard.
COCKPIT AND DECK
The cockpit is designed with functionality and comfort in mind. New teak was fitted in the cockpit in 2024, and the deck was coated with KiwiGrip in the same year, providing a practical and non-slip surface.
The sprayhood and cockpit enclosure were supplied by Andersens Boatwear in 2021 and provide excellent protection from wind and weather. The yacht is also equipped with an anchor with chain and line, a spare anchor, bathing ladder, cockpit table, mooring lines and fenders.
INTERIOR AND COMFORT
Below deck, the yacht offers a classic and functional interior with up to approximately 189 cm of headroom. Equipment includes a compressor refrigerator, shore power, 230V sockets and a Pioneer radio with CD player.
An oil-fired heating system from 2021 helps extend the sailing season and ensures a comfortable temperature aboard during colder weather.
The hot-water tank has a capacity of approximately 15–20 litres and can be heated by both 230V electricity and the engine’s cooling system. The freshwater tank has a capacity of approximately 150 litres.
