(Note: "Jonmeri" is spelled without an "e," but the system automatically added it...)
Jorma Nyman, an outstanding Finnish naval architect, worked for many years at “Swan”—a fact evident in the lines of the Jonmeri—before he was able to bring his vision of building his own yachts to life. He founded “Jonmeri.” “Amanda” was built by Jonmeri Oy, a shipyard in Finland, to be exceptionally seaworthy and of the highest quality. She was a huge success.
Today, our Amanda is certainly one of the most beautiful sailing vessels on Lake Maggiore. We’ve already put in a lot of work, but there’s still quite a bit left to do.
In the coming years, we’ll be setting out on a long voyage and, with a heavy heart, parting ways with our ship.
The fact that the Amanda was first sailed on Lake Zurich and then on Lake Maggiore also has its advantages. None of the materials were ever exposed to saltwater, and wear and tear on the rigging, hull, and engine is minimal and almost imperceptible. She was mostly sailed in wind forces of two to four.
Over the next few years, some work will likely be needed on the teak deck. The underwater hull is in good condition. Repairs to the instruments would certainly be another item on the list. The mainsail, replaced in 2017, and the genoa, replaced in 2021, are Elvström sails made of Dacron and are in very good condition. This is a wonderful, high-quality, unique sailboat that, with a manageable amount of effort, can be transformed into an absolute beauty.
For this reason, we have set the asking price at CHF 18,500.
