Nach rund 35.000 sm, die uns bis Brasilien, Hawaii, Alaska und Kanada geführt haben, kehren wir zum Leben an Land zurück. Wir leben seit nunmehr gut 10 Jahren auf diesem Boot.

Luna Mare ist ein sehr zuverlässiges und stabiles Boot. Es durchsteht problemlos Starkwindphasen. Der gemäßigte Langkieler geht gut am Wind, lässt sich gut beidrehen und liegt stabil bei jeder Wetterlage.

Der Rumpf stammt aus 1995 und wurde vom damaligen Besitzer ausgebaut. 2014 haben wir das Boot im damaligen Zustand (ohne Motor, ohne Rigg und nur rudimentäre Navigationsausstattung) übernommen und bis Mitte 2016 fertig ausgebaut.

Die Erstwässerung erfolgte im Juni 2016.

Wesentliche Teile wie das Rigg und die Navigationselektrik sind „nur“ rund 10 Jahre alt. Der Motor ebenfalls. Dieser hat aber einen Kolbenfresser durch Salzwassereintritt (einer der vier Zylinder ist davon betroffen), weshalb der Motor nur mit einigem Aufwand repariert bzw. komplett ersetzt werden muss.

Sehr angenehm ist der Innensteuerstand. Die Wache bei Langfahrt kann sich hier auf einer Koje (der Tisch kann abgesenkt werden) im sicheren Bereich des Bootes aufhalten. Man hat dabei sowohl die See rundherum als auch alle relevanten Navigationsinstrumente im Blick.

Allerdings ist ein erheblicher Refit-Aufwand erforderlich:

• Motor (wie erwähnt)
  
• neue Segel
  
• die Abdichtung zwischen dem GFK-Deck und dem Stahlrumpf
  
• Rostbildung bei einem Stahlboot
  
• zahlreiche kleinere Themen
  

Ich schätze den Gesamtaufwand auf rund 30.000 € bis 35.000 €. Danach hat man dann jedoch ein seegängiges Boot geeignet für alle Reviere dieser Welt.

Die Liegegebühren in Höhe von € 352 monatlich sind bis zum 15. Juli 2027 bezahlt. Extra berechnet werden von der Marina monatlich Wasser und Strom nach Verbrauch, wobei es einen Mindestbetrag von € 35 pro Monat gibt.

After sailing about 35,000 sm—which took us to Brazil, Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada—we’re returning to life on land. We’ve been living on this boat for a good 10 years now.

Luna Mare is a very reliable and stable boat. It handles periods of strong winds with ease. The moderate long keel performs well close-hauled, turns easily to either tack, and remains stable in all weather conditions.

The hull dates back to 1995 and was outfitted by the previous owner. In 2014, we took over the boat in its then-current condition (without an engine, without rigging, and with only rudimentary navigation equipment) and completed the outfitting by mid-2016.

The boat was first launched in June 2016.

Essential components such as the rigging and the navigation electrical system are “only” about 10 years old. The engine is as well. However, it has suffered a seized piston due to saltwater ingress (one of the four cylinders is affected), which means the engine will require significant effort to repair or will need to be completely replaced.

The interior helm station is very comfortable. During long voyages, the watch can stay here on a berth (the table can be lowered) in the safe area of the boat. From there, one has a view of both the sea all around and all relevant navigation instruments.

However, a significant refit is required:

• Engine (as mentioned)
  
• New sails
  
• Sealing between the fiberglass deck and the steel hull
  
• Rust formation on a steel boat
  
• Numerous minor issues
  

I estimate the total cost at around €30,000 to €35,000. After that, however, you’ll have a seaworthy boat suitable for any sailing area in the world.

The monthly berthing fees of €352 have been paid through July 15, 2027. The marina charges extra for water and electricity each month based on usage, with a minimum charge of €35 per month.
