Pedrazzini
The understated elegance of the lines, the flawless woodwork and the classic design bring the Italian charm of the 1950s unmistakably back to life. But the beauty of Pedrazzini yachts comes at a price!
Content
Pedrazzini builds runabouts in mahogany. In terms of looks and craftsmanship, they are simply a dream.
In the beginning there was water. And Augusto Pedrazzini stayed true to it, in a way, when he moved from Lake Como to Lake Zurich in 1906. There he set up a small boatyard where, with plenty of pioneering spirit and craftsmanship, he literally created fishing boats, rowing boats and sailboats. Made of wood, of course – nobody was thinking about other materials back then.
With passion and skill
Augusto Pedrazzini's eldest son Ferruccio developed the same passion for boatbuilding. In the 1930s he studied nautical science and design, and in the mid-1950s Ferruccio modeled and built the first Super Leggera, a small sport boat with an outboard motor that was extremely popular at the time. It was also during this period that the Capri Super Deluxe was built to Ferruccio Pedrazzini's plans – the runabout that gives today's Pedrazzini powerboats their characteristic, classic shape.
Since then, the Pedrazzinis (now in the third generation) have been building powerboats that combine Italian design, southern flair and Swiss precision in an inimitable way.
Built to outlast time
Time plays an essential role at the family boatyard. Not as a strict taskmaster, but in the sense of "good things take time". The fine mahogany used for boatbuilding needs decades to reach the right strength. And for a single Pedrazzini runabout, the yard's staff need 1800 to 4000 working hours, or 6 to 9 months of work. At least! Only in this way can it be ensured that they create a boat that "will outlast time for a long while yet".
Precision down to the smallest detail
Fine teak grating adorns the bathing platform, the dashboard comes in the finest burl wood, the convertible top can be stowed away quickly and discreetly thanks to an ingenious design, and every fitting is made by hand. Every last detail is consistently thought through and perfectly executed in form and function. At the yard they take pride in the fact that even every single screw is aligned in a straight line.
Very rare on the used boat market
Pedrazzini runabouts have only one problem: you very rarely find them on the used boat market. Because hardly anyone wants to part with these wonders of boatbuilding, and the legendary runabouts are passed down from generation to generation.
By the way, the chance of coming across such a rare find is greatest on Boat24!
