Cumbia is a custom American Cruising Yachts 54 center-cockpit cruising yacht that has remained with her original owner since new. Throughout more than three decades of ownership, she has been maintained and continually upgraded without regard to minimizing cost. Her owner has always considered the condition, appearance, and presentation of Cumbia to be a reflection of his own standards, and his approach to ownership has been correspondingly meticulous.

Rather than simply maintaining the yacht as she aged, the owner has continued to invest in her systems and equipment. Recent major upgrades include a new U.S. Spars aluminum mast in 2023, a 2023 North Sails 3Di Ocean mainsail, genoa, and staysail, and a 2023 Fisher Panda 12 kW generator. Her electrical system includes a 1,350 Ah Battle Born lithium house and winch bank, dual Xantrex Freedom SW 3000 W inverter/chargers, Victron DC-to-DC charging, and a Balmar 220 A high-output alternator.

Designed around long-distance cruising, Cumbia carries 300 gallons of diesel and 400 gallons of fresh water. Her cutter rig, Leisure Furl in-boom furling, electric sail-handling winches, and controls concentrated around the helm allow a yacht of this size to be managed with a small crew. Her 20-inch four-blade feathering Max-Prop (new in 2025) is driven by a Yanmar 4LH-TE 110 hp diesel.

The oversized center cockpit provides seating for up to 12 and incorporates deck-level entry from both port and starboard. A custom fiberglass stern arch houses concealed davits and supports communications equipment, while the retractable swim platform provides access to the water and tender.

Below deck, Cumbia has a four-cabin, two-head arrangement. The aft master has a centerline queen berth, the forward VIP has a centerline double berth, and two additional cabins provide further guest accommodations. The main saloon, forward-facing navigation station, and galley form the central living area, finished in traditional teak joinery and teak-and-holly flooring.

Cumbia represents an unusual opportunity to acquire a one-owner yacht whose long-term stewardship is documented not simply by her maintenance history, but by the scale of the equipment and systems that have continued to be renewed and upgraded throughout her ownership.
