This 1 of 5 build Ohlson ’35 is truly one of a kind sailing yacht! The yacht was build in 1974 in England at the “ Tyler “ shipyard. Little is known of the yacht by me until October 2003, when I arrived in SXM chasing a dream of sailing across the Atlantic ocean. Through quite a remarkable story Cabbyl Vane and I crossed paths and I became the proud owner, by then not more than a floating home. After years of working in the Caribbean for FKG a rigging company and some upgrades to Cabbyl Vane later, I found myself and the yacht ready for our 1e Atlantic crossing together at the end of the spring in 2012. The solo trip across went well and when arrived in Falmouth UK a friend joined me on the last leg to Urk in Holland. And this is where the complete rebuild of Cabbyl Vane her story starts.
Me now working as a rotational sailing superyacht engineer which allowed me more time to focus on my dream and sailing project Cabbyl Vane, , which I carried on with standards of my job. It all started with the idea of a refit however, after emptying the boat and the start of replacing parts the feeling of “ I am doing this once! So Beter do it right” turned the refit into a rebuild. At that moment the decision of changing from a tiller skeg rudder to a wheel and free hanging balancing rudder also came to life!
Boat in general,
I build the boat for two persons however, she easily sleeps 4. During the rebuild I chose for a big galley and changing the cockpit by making a ronde seat in the front and replacing the tiller for a steering wheel (Jefa) These changes makes the boat very unique and very comfortable for a 34footer.
In the front either a double bed or in v 2 singles, a single toilet with washbasin, saloon corner seat with foldable table for more storage during delivery, a big seat on starboard that turns in a 1 person bed and starboard aft another 1 person bed. Outside a cockpit that sits 4-6 with a outside hot and cold water shower.

Sailing history; I cruised successfully double and single handed from Holland to England, Spain, Ibiza, Mallorca, Morrocco, Canaries, Cabo Verde, Caribbean multiple islands, Panama, Costa Rica, Galapagos, Marquesses, Tuamotus, Tahiti, Gambier to Puerto Montt in Chile, Ushuaia, Porto Williams, Falkland Islands, Uruguay, Santos Brazil. 2 solo Atlantic crossings, 2x Caribbean RORC 600 one time on the podium 3e in ORC3. She clearly has proven to be a very comfortable, enjoyable, reliable and fast! (solo) Cruiser..
We decided to put Cabbyl Vane on the market while we are cruising and are willing to step off anywhere! Where a new adventuress owner wants to take over and continuing loving her…
When we arrived in Santos Brasil we decided to give the boat a cosmetic upgrade which resulted in repairing all damages and improving the main shroud chainplate setup. Hull, deck, deckhouse and cockpit resprayed. Inside new paint and varnish, New antifouling and all deck lockers painted with a new epoxy paint. Mast, boom and vang maintenance.
