Tartan yachts are premium sailboats with a level of craftsmanship and finish that far surpasses standard production boats.
The boat we are offering for sale, “Skarven”, has also received extensive care and significant upgrades in recent years, including:
• Bowsprit for gennaker
• Gennaker with sock
• Jet Thruster (bow thruster)
• Performance sails from 2020
TARTAN 3700 CCR
When Tartan’s designer, Tim Jackett, set out to create a 37-footer, he went well beyond the “usual” approach to balancing performance and comfort – and arrived at a number of “wow – that’s how it should be done” solutions. The result is a fast and stable performance cruiser with a uniquely inviting and functional interior. The moment you step aboard, it feels like home.
At launch, the 3700 was named Cruising World’s “Boat of the Year” and was listed in SAIL Magazine’s “BEST BOATS – TOP 10”.
The 3700 CCR rig immediately stands out from the crowd. The carbon fiber construction is an engineering masterpiece, with a tall, tapered mast and integrated, lightweight, and strong masthead. The double-spreader carbon rig is stronger, stiffer, and lighter than aluminum. This increases righting moment, reduces rolling, and improves sailing characteristics and speed.
Carbon fiber contributes to both safety and speed, allowing rig loads to be finely tuned with reinforcement exactly where needed. This results in a rig with higher safety margins that stays in tune through changing conditions – ensuring that all the sail power translates directly into forward motion.
The rig is the engine of the yacht – and carbon delivers top-level performance, along with increased strength and safety.
Pocket Boom System
Tartan developed its unique “Pocket Boom” system to deliver a highly manageable yet uncompromising mainsail. Unlike in-mast or in-boom furling systems, the Pocket Boom mainsail is designed with a full roach, full battens, and optimized draft. Sailmakers can design sails for performance – without restrictions from the mast or boom.
The boom features a permanently installed sail cover – simply unzip it and hoist the sail directly from its integrated “pocket.” When lowering the mainsail, it drops neatly into the boom and lazy jacks – no hassle, no mess. Zip the cover back over, and the boat is shipshape.
With Tartan’s Pocket Boom, performance cruising is enhanced – not compromised.
Sailing Performance
Upwind, the 3700 CCR is fitted with a roller furling, self-tacking jib with a high aspect ratio and a long luff for tight sheeting angles. The sail area/displacement ratio has been increased to ensure excellent performance in light winds, and the high stability of the boat allows it to carry full sail when others are reefing.
Tacking is as easy as turning the helm – the mainsail and jib handle themselves. Short tacking out of a harbor or anchorage is effortless.
When it’s time to bear away, the 150% furling masthead reacher is deployed. This versatile headsail can be used for close reaching in light winds, broad reaching in heavier breezes, and dead downwind sailing wing-on-wing with the mainsail.
Tartan’s pursuit of the ideal performance cruiser means you’ll still be sailing – while others start their engines.
Optimal Deck Design
The Tartan 3700 deck layout combines aesthetics, safety, and comfort. Wide side decks allow for easy and secure movement fore and aft. Ample ventilation is provided by stainless steel opening ports along the cabin sides and cockpit, stainless steel hatches, and two large dorade vents with stainless guards.
Thoughtful Interior Layout
Below deck, the layout is perfect for accommodating a family or two cruising couples. The two staterooms are fully private and feature spacious drawers and hanging lockers. By angling the saloon bulkheads outward and those at the nav station and galley inward, each area feels tailored to its function – whether social, restful, or practical.
This is a beautifully designed and engineered yacht – rarely seen on the Norwegian market. With no teak decks, the boat presents a forward-thinking, low-maintenance alternative that reduces long-term upkeep costs.
We are showing the boat by appointment only.
The boat is located at Drammen Seilforening, and Norwegian VAT is paid.
