Etap 37s "HEA" (2004) — The Self-Sufficient Aegean Cruiser
96 000€ · VAT paid · Lying Leros, Greece · Estonian (EU) flag · RCD Category A

The short version
HEA is a two-owner, Belgian-built Etap 37s set up for genuine independence: make your own water, make your own power, and stay on anchor as long as you please. A Dessalator watermaker with new 2026 membranes, a 300W solar array with a 100A Balmar alternator and smart Victron monitoring, and a full cockpit enclosure mean her owners rarely, if ever, plug into shore power. The engine was fully rebuilt in 2019 (1,500 hours total), the saildrive seal was done in 2022, and the bottom was freshly antifouled in 2026. VAT is paid, the paperwork is clean, and she is lying in the Dodecanese ready to sail away.

Why this boat
Unsinkable by design. Etap's signature double-skin GRP construction with a closed-cell foam core makes the 37s famously unsinkable, and quieter and better insulated as a bonus. RCD Category A (Ocean). HEA is the deep-keel (~1.95 m) performance version: stiffer, faster upwind, and perfectly at home in the deep waters of the Greek islands.

Water independence. Dessalator D60 watermaker producing 60 litres per hour, serviced in 2026 with new membranes, backed by a 250 L tank. No queueing for marina water, no rationing showers.

Energy independence. The power system was substantially renewed in 2025–26: 2× 150W flexible solar panels on the rear bimini through a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/20, a high-output Balmar 621-Series 100A alternator, a Crystec 60A shore charger, a Mastervolt 2000W sine-wave inverter, and a ~595Ah house bank (four batteries new in 2025) with a new start battery, all watched over by a Victron BMV-712 smart monitor. In practice: the fridge runs, the fans spin, the phones charge, and the shore cable stays in its locker.

Real comfort at anchor. A full dual-bimini system with curtains on three sides encloses the entire cockpit against sun, wind and rain, wider than the standard Etap fit, and collapsible for sailing. Five quiet Caframo Sirocco 12V fans (one at every berth plus the galley) keep the boat comfortable through Greek summer nights without a generator or air-con. Sprayhood like new. A teak-and-aluminium passerelle (2024) handles Med stern-to mooring with dignity.

A home port you cannot simply buy. HEA comes with something no equipment list can match: her established place at Leros Marina, secure dry-dock storage ashore each winter and a berth afloat for the summer season, in one of the Aegean's best natural harbours. Waiting lists here run to many years; the new owner steps straight into an arrangement (subject to the marina's standard confirmation) that other buyers queue half a decade for. Buy the boat, inherit the base.

Easy to sail short-handed. All control lines lead aft to the cockpit. Furling genoa on a Selden Furlex 200S, Raymarine autopilot, a powerful 1200W Leroy-Somer windlass with remote, a Walder boom brake for controlled gybes, and a VHF extension handset at the helm. One person can take her out; two can cruise her indefinitely.

The honest bits
We believe in full disclosure. The sails and standing rigging are original 2004; the sails have been stored indoors every winter and remain in good condition, but a buyer planning serious offshore miles may budget for rig renewal in time. The Raymarine electronics are the original integrated suite (wind instrument 2021) and work well, though they are not the latest generation. There is no cabin heating (she is a warm-climate boat), no radar, and no EPIRB, and the flares are due for renewal. Everything else, as the refit list shows, has been relentlessly maintained.
