Baltic 38 DP – Classic Performance Cruiser
1982 | Doug Peterson Design | Lefkas, Greece | VAT Paid

A superb opportunity to acquire a distinctive Baltic 38 DP, designed by renowned naval architect Doug Peterson and built in Finland by Baltic Yachts in 1982. Combining classic performance yacht design with practical cruising capability, she offers an appealing alternative to conventional production cruisers for sailors who appreciate quality construction, sailing performance and individual character.

Built with a GRP sandwich hull, teak-laid GRP deck, lead fin keel and spade rudder, this 38-footer has purposeful lines and a rewarding sailing pedigree. Her aluminium mast is complemented by Nitronic bar standing rigging replaced in 2024, while a new mainsail and furling genoa, both by Shore in white Vectron, were fitted in 2023. Electric genoa winches and a comprehensive arrangement of Harken and Lewmar winches complete the sailing equipment.

Auxiliary power is provided by a 35hp Yanmar 3HMF diesel, coupled to a Hurth gearbox and V-drive. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt in 2019, and the yacht benefits from a three-blade Max-Prop feathering propeller.
Below deck, the warm teak interior accommodates up to seven in three cabins, with three double berths and an additional single berth. The saloon provides further seating and berthing, while the galley is equipped with a Force 10 cooker, oven, grill, three hobs and Waeco Coolmatic refrigerator. Heating is provided by a Mikuni system, making her suitable for extended cruising beyond the summer months.

Navigation equipment includes Raymarine GPS, chartplotter and radar, B&G instruments, Autohelm autopilot, Navtex, VHF and AIS transceiver. Additional cruising equipment includes an electric Lewmar windlass, two anchors, 350 litres of freshwater capacity, sprayhood and an Avon Redstart tender with Mercury 3.3hp outboard.
In current private ownership since 2005, she has an extensive cruising history through the UK, France, Spain, Portugal and Italy before reaching Greece in 2017.

Lying in Lefkas, Greece, VAT paid, Euros 69,950 this Baltic 38 DP presents an interesting opportunity for a sailor seeking a classic, well-equipped performance cruiser with a strong design pedigree and substantial cruising experience.

The condition or level of safety equipment on board is not to be negotiated on following survey. It is likely to be listed by most surveyors but is not structural or an integral working part of the vessel and is not to be used to further negotiate the price down after survey. We strongly suggest that for your own personal safety that when purchasing a yacht you provide new safety equipment rather than relying on second hand gear.

Should you become the new owner of this yacht then the responsibility to re-register or update official bodies for items such as EPIRB, VHF, MMSI or AIS becomes yours.

Comments

The Baltic 38 DP is a performance-oriented sailing yacht from the Finnish builder Baltic Yachts. Built in 1982, she offers the appeal of a classic Scandinavian performance cruiser, combining purposeful sailing design with the craftsmanship and character associated with Baltic yachts of this era.

For marketing purposes, the strongest angle is to present her as a yacht for an owner who values sailing performance, quality construction and distinctive design rather than simply looking for a conventional cruising yacht.
The following is a draft marketing package. Specific equipment, accommodation, sail inventory, construction details and condition should be confirmed against the individual yacht before publication.
