What is a deck saloon sailing yacht?
Boats and yachts in which the saloon has been "raised" to deck level for greater living comfort. Deck saloon sailing yachts divide opinion among cruising sailors: some swear by the (relatively modern and new) concept, precisely because the comfort for passengers and crew is overwhelming (panoramic views at anchor, generous saloon dimensions, more lifestyle).
Why deck saloon yachts are a matter of taste
More purist cruising sailors miss the clear view from the helm station (aft) and criticize a hull that is far too voluminous (prone to crosswinds). A matter of taste!
The fact remains, however, that nowhere else will you find such a generous amount of space as on a deck saloon sailing yacht. Not "form follows function" – the motto should be the other way around.
