Center consoles often come with little comfort and tend to be used for shorter trips with water sports activities. Center consoles are happy to tow water skiers or squealing children and teenagers on inflatables across the water. Diving schools and anglers are also frequently seen heading to their dive spots and fishing grounds in center consoles. What types of center consoles are there?

Center consoles belong to the Bowrider design category. They are available in sizes from around 5 to 15 meters. Mostly designed as planing or semi-displacement boats, they are powered by outboards, sterndrives and jet drives. Inboards are rather rare.
On a center console, skippers appreciate the better overview, since they essentially always sit or stand elevated above the passengers.
