Motor superyachts: not for the faint of wallet
Superyachts are powerboats measuring roughly 25 to 60 meters in length. Megayachts are at least 60 meters long and currently reach a maximum of 160-180 meters.
No limits
Motor superyachts are fitted with every imaginable luxury and comfort. From helipads and swimming pools to owner's apartments with terraces and garages for tenders and submarines, there are virtually no limits for their fortunate owners.
What does a motor superyacht cost?
Assuming you have the necessary funds at hand: build costs are reckoned at around 1 to 2 million euros per meter of hull length. Running such yachts is extremely demanding too. Depending on the berth, cruising area and crew size, several million euros per year are added to the bill.
Who has the longest motor superyacht?
Since the turn of the millennium, a genuine contest along the lines of "who has the longest?" has been playing out among the super-rich. Since 2013, the 181-meter "Azzam", owned by the President of the United Arab Emirates Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has topped the list of the longest motor yachts. The yacht was built at the Lürssen shipyard in Bremen. In second place is the "Fulk Al Salamah" at 164 meters, and in third the "Eclipse" of Israeli-Russian Roman Abramovich, who pushed Mohammed Al Maktoum's "Dubai" into fourth place by a mere 50 centimeters.
