Build and seakeeping
Measuring 11.98 m overall with a 3.99 m beam, 2.10 m draft and a 7,500 kg displacement, the 409 offers a stable, well-canvassed platform. Hull in polyester, deck in GRP. The rig combines a battened in-mast furling mainsail with lazy jacks and lazy bag, a 2025 genoa and a storm jib, together with a bowsprit, backstay, mainsheet traveller and halyards led aft to the cockpit.
Engine and accommodation
Power comes from a 40 hp Yanmar 3JH5CE diesel, 4-cylinder with raw-water cooling, original 2012 unit with 3,340 hours. At a 7-knot cruising speed, consumption is around 2 l/h, with 200 litres of fuel and 330 litres of fresh water on board. A bow thruster makes harbour manoeuvres straightforward. Below decks: three cabins, eight berths, a convertible saloon, a galley with hob, oven (2023), microwave and electric fridge, plus hot water.
