2015 Amateur Wharram Tiki 26 catamaran, EUR 6 500

For many years, James Wharram was the only catamaran designer who made it possible for a broad public to build a seaworthy sailing catamaran themselves. Thanks to construction plans with extensive instructions, a great number of Wharram catamarans were built during the last century. With the rise of epoxy as a construction and protective material, lighter building became possible, which led to the creation of the Coastal Trek series of catamarans.
Before long, sailors began asking for a larger successor to the popular Tiki 21, the boat with which Rory McDougall sailed around the world between 1991 and 1997.
The result was the Tiki 26, offering 62% more volume and enough carrying capacity for long sea voyages with 2–3 crew members.
“NaNa” was strongly built by an experienced D-i-Y builder and well maintained until physical health issues made this impossible for him. The bright colours make the boat highly visible on open sea — an important safety feature. The price reflects the fact that the new owner will need to recommission “NaNa” by himself. She is waiting high and dry in Amsterdam
