For decades, the Nauticat shipyard in Finland has been synonymous with solid construction, safe sailing, and an unmatched combination of sailboat and motor-sailer. Founded in the 1960s, the shipyard is known for building vessels that can withstand both harsh weather and long voyages—all crafted to a high standard with a focus on comfort, safety, and durability.

The Nauticat 33 is one of the shipyard’s most popular models and an icon among classic motor-sailers. It features a spacious and well-laid-out interior with a large salon in the wheelhouse, a covered helm station, and comfortable living areas both above and below deck. Its solid construction, large fuel capacity, and stable handling make it ideal for longer voyages and comfortable sailing in all conditions.

This particular boat was built in 1980, and the current owner purchased it in 2018 from a gentleman in Germany; the boat has been updated and maintained with its origins in mind.

The engine is a water-cooled Mercedes OM 602 90 HK diesel, which appears well-maintained with just under 1,600 hours on the clock, as well as a new stern tube bearing and a newer DeepSeal shaft seal (approx. 2023).

Notable equipment:

  • Resen Sails mainsail from approximately 2022
  • Furling jib with new UV protection on the luff and leech
  • Teak deck from 2015
  • Mercedes engine from 2010, as per previous purchase agreement
  • Hull cleaned and coated with 4 layers of light primer followed by 2 layers of antifouling paint (2023)
  • Oil-fired heater, Webasto, and electric heaters
  • Electric windlass and stern anchor
  • Sidepower bow thruster
  • Newer Simrad autopilot
  • 6-person life raft from approximately 2019

A Nauticat 33 like this one combines classic charm with reliable technology and modern amenities—a boat that can be comfortably sailed by two people and offers the whole family a safe and pleasant sailing experience.
