1964 Nordic Folkboat – Mahogany on Oak – Enlarged Cabin

A reliable, safe and sturdy Nordic Folkboat, built in mahogany on oak, with an enlarged coachroof and cabin — upgraded for comfortable cruising, not just racing.

She's in good condition, well loved and well maintained. The only reason she's for sale: our family has grown, and she's simply become too small for us. It's a hard decision, but we're looking for a new owner who'll give her the sailing she deserves.

Sails & Rig
The sails aren't new, but they're in good condition. The mainsail has 3 reef points, giving you real flexibility to shorten sail early — a big plus for safety and comfort when the wind picks up.

Why this boat is a joy to sail
Her shallow draft makes her perfectly suited to inland and coastal waters alike — you're not limited to marked channels, and you can comfortably nose into shallow anchorages other boats can't reach. Her long keel also means you can largely ignore fishing nets and lines in lagoons and shallow bays that would snag a fin-keeled boat.

Auxiliary power
A lightly used four-stroke 6 HP Yamaha outboard gets you quietly and reliably in and out of the marina, or through the calms.

Accommodation
The cabin currently has three comfortable berths, and there's complete freedom to fit her out further to your own taste — a proper chart table, galley, heads, a Webasto heater, a saloon table, an extra berth — whatever suits how you want to use her.

Restoration & maintenance history

2012: full structural restoration of the exterior (complete photo documentation of the entire process available)
2021: refreshed — repainted and revarnished topsides and coachroof

She also comes with a sturdy wooden cradle/keel-stand, which can be easily disassembled and reassembled as needed for hauling and storage.

Current condition & what's needed before launch
She hasn't been sailed the last few seasons, so she's been drying out nicely ashore. No serious restoration work is needed — just a standard seasonal hull prep before she goes back in the water: sanding, priming, and antifouling below the waterline. If you'd prefer, I can carry out this work myself before handover — happy to discuss and agree on this separately.

A word on owning a wooden classic
A wooden boat carries a charm no fibreglass hull can match — the warmth of mahogany and oak, the character in every plank, a genuine piece of sailing history. That charm does come with more hands-on care than a modern GRP boat, but that's exactly the appeal for those who love this kind of sailing. With just the hull prep to handle, there's plenty of time to have her ready and looking her best before the season starts.

Currently hauled out at Kaunas Žalgiris Yacht Club, Lithuania. Delivery anywhere in Europe on extra cost can be arranged once a sale is agreed.
