Design and Build Quality The SO 40 features a clean, purposeful hull shape with a moderate beam carried well aft, contributing significantly to stability and interior volume. The construction follows standard GRP layup techniques for the era, with a solid hull below the waterline and a cored deck for stiffness and insulation. While not built like a heavy offshore racer, the structure is robust and designed for reliable coastal and medium-distance offshore cruising.
