ARTOMA — Bluewater Boat With a Timeless Design.
Fijian 47 | 1982 | Portugal

We fell in love with ARTOMA for her timeless lines, the craftsmanship of her construction and the way she moved through the sea.

The dream: crossing the seven seas, exploring unfamiliar coastlines and making a home wherever we dropped anchor.

Ashore in beautiful Portugal, we were pleasantly surprised by how few hull blemishes we found after 44 years. The boat has now been fully restored and repainted.

Both existing wooden masts were lifted out at a boatyard in Lagos, carefully restored, refinished and reinstalled.

The existing teak deck has also been retained and maintained as part of this refit. The owners report a thickness of approximately 10 mm and an earlier installation cost of €75,000.

Now, with the restoration nearing completion, our aim remains the same: to preserve the character we fell in love with while preparing ARTOMA for many more years of sailing. We hope her next owners will find the same connection — and bring their own dreams aboard.

NEW ANCHORING EQUIPMENT

The anchoring setup now includes a new Lofrans 1,700 W electric windlass, a new Spade anchor and 100 metres of new chain. A new anchor winch reinforcement metal plate has also been fitted beneath the forward windlass to support the mounting and protect the surrounding deck.

UPDATED NAVIGATION, POWER AND ESSENTIAL SYSTEMS

Recent installations include a Garmin chartplotter, Garmin radar and an AIS system. The autopilot and propeller shaft have been repaired.

The electrical system has been upgraded with new Victron equipment and phone-based monitoring of battery state of charge. A new Silentwind wind generator complements the existing solar-power installation, while a watermaker adds another practical facility for life aboard.

These updates are carefully custom-made to fit ARTOMA’s timeless design.

Real mahogany carpentry creates a lush, cosy feeling. The saloon is the place where your heart feels at home after a day under sail.

The full galley offers both gas and electric cooking facilities, an oven, microwave and refrigerator. Internal heating, an insulated interior, a toilet and shower, and sleeping accommodation for at least eight people provide the foundations for an extended stay aboard.

There are both inside and outside steering positions. Her owners particularly value her steady motion and substantial feel, while describing her as responsive at the helm — a heavy-displacement yacht that does not feel lifeless under sail.

ARTOMA is for someone who appreciates real wood, traditional craftsmanship and a sturdy bluewater yacht with a story. For someone who wants a boat to travel in, live aboard and grow attached to.
