This unique, very special historic ship is located in the middle of the newly renovated Greifswald Museum Harbour with all the advantages that this historic port and university town has to offer.
You can reach the Greifswald Bodden via the old Ryk and are in one of the most beautiful sailing areas.

The interior of the spacious sailing cutter has been very high quality and comfortably converted by a captain in the 70s. Woods were refined here that are priceless today! Stable solid teak on deck, mahgoni in the gunwale, Oregon pine in the mast & oak in the hull & all superstructures. Beautifully shaped brass fittings on all fixtures. It couldn't be more beautiful! The wine-red sails are almost as good as new!

Come aboard - and become part of this story...

Experience an unforgettable atmosphere in one of the largest museum harbors in Europe.

The extensive completion as a sailing ship was largely completed in 2024. In 2024, the Free & Hanseatic City of Greifswald celebrated the 250th anniversary of its Romantic painter Caspar-David Friedrich.

The name of the ship "Arion" comes from the Greek. It was actually the story that inspired me as a musician: In order to increase his reputation in foreign lands, Arion visited Sicily, where he became the acclaimed winner of a singing competition and made his way home showered with riches.
His treasures aroused the envy of the ship's crew, who gave him the choice of jumping overboard or being murdered. However, they granted his wish to sing one last song. As Arion sang his song, a group of dolphins soon appeared at the ship, after which the singer threw himself into the water. One of the dolphins carried Arion on its back until he reached land safely at Tainaron and was able to start his journey home to Corinth.
