Commissioned towards the end of 2025 and used for demonstration purposes only, RAPIDO is a fully equipped and ready-to-go example of the Morrelli & Melvin-designed full carbon Rapido 40 Racer. Lighter and more powerful than the regular (also very light and powerful) Rapido 40, the Rapido 40R offers blistering performance on all points of sail and is designed to be competitive and capable both inshore and offshore, thanks to her CE Category-A (Ocean) certification.

Very lightly used, conveniently located in the Western Med’, and offered for sale exclusive of VAT with manufacturer’s warranty, RAPIDO offers a fantastic opportunity to take immediate delivery of a newly-commissioned, fully equipped and highly competitive CE-Category A offshore racing trimaran.

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

The all new Rapido 40 Racer, weighing just 4,500kgs (excluding crew) sports a 19.5m mast, 2m higher than the mast on the cruising version of the Rapido 40.

While there are monohull race boats in this size range, this trimaran fills a void in the market, offering multihull enthusiasts a high-tech, affordable alternative.

The Rapido 40 Racer is a highly competitive 12m, all carbon, racing trimaran for club racing, coastal and ocean racing which is relatively affordable to buy and maintain. It only required 4 or 5 crew to race.

Having folding capability, marina, hard standing and shipping costs are at monohull rates.

The Rapido 40 Racer is expected to appeal to members of yacht clubs, small syndicates, solo sailors for Route du Rhum and women in racing.

During commissioning, the trimaran completed approximately 1,800 nautical miles of sea trials, including a mix of offshore passages and coastal cruising in a wide range of conditions. The vessel demonstrated strong performance throughout, achieving a top speed of 22 knots.

This racing version is finished with paint instead of gelcoat to save weight. It also comes equipped with:-
Prepreg carbon spreader-less performance rig
C-foil daggerboards
B&G electronics
North Sails 3Di race package
New slide up/down, kick-up T-foil rudder blade
Low profile coachroof

The Rapido 40 Racer is certified to CE Category A – Ocean and features watertight bulkheads.

MANUFACTURER’S BACKGROUND:

Passion is what drives innovation. For Paul Koch, co-founder of Rapido Trimarans, that passion has always been trimarans. Over decades, Paul has been at the forefront of the multihull industry, transforming what was once a niche into a worldwide movement for performance cruising.

Paul’s journey began in 1986 with OSTAC Yachts (Ocean Sailing Trimarans and Catamarans). From 1994 to 2010, he led Corsair Marine, where he introduced breakthrough technologies and production methods that reshaped the trimaran market. His relentless drive and vision helped bring high-performance multihulls to sailors around the world.

Yet, Paul saw a gap: a true ocean-cruising trimaran that was fast, safe, owner-operated, and manageable by just two people. This vision gave birth to the Rapido 60 — the world’s fastest production cruising trimaran. To make it a reality, Paul partnered with Pete Melvin, co-founder of the world-renowned Morrelli & Melvin Design & Engineering.

Known for their work on America’s Cup campaigns and some of the world’s most advanced performance yachts, Morrelli & Melvin’s expertise ensures every Rapido trimaran is a masterpiece of engineering.
They use cutting-edge tools to optimize every detail:
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD): Analyze and maximize hull performance.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Ensure strength and structural integrity.
Velocity Prediction Programs (VPP): Model and forecast real-world sailing performance.
This combination of science, technology, and experience gives Rapido Trimarans their unmatched blend of speed, safety, and handling.

Rapido Trimarans are built exclusively by Triac Composites, which was founded in Vietnam by Paul Koch and Richard Eyre in 2014. While Triac’s primary focus is the Rapido range, its expertise in advanced composites extends well beyond the marine industry.
