The Lagoon 420 “Tuuli”, built in 2007, is a cruising catamaran that has been consistently upgraded over the past few years for comfortable, self-sufficient bluewater cruising. The current owners purchased the yacht in 2021 and carried out an extensive refit, investing significantly in technology, equipment, and onboard comfort. Since then, the Lagoon has served not only as a cruising yacht but also as their floating home for several years. During this time, they sailed the North Sea, crossed the Atlantic, and explored large parts of the Mediterranean, continuously refining and improving the yacht with the goal of creating a reliable, comfortable, and truly independent cruising platform.

The result is a Lagoon 420 that leaves very little to be desired. Numerous systems have been renewed or upgraded, including a complete new sail wardrobe, major improvements to the electrical system featuring a LiFePO₄ battery bank and a powerful solar array, modern navigation electronics, as well as extensive upgrades to the propulsion and onboard utility systems. Today, the yacht represents a well-balanced and thoughtfully equipped package for owners planning extended voyages or even full-time liveaboard cruising.

One of the yacht’s highlights is the spacious four-cabin layout. The port forward cabin is currently configured as a dedicated workshop and spare parts storage area—a practical solution for long-distance cruisers who value independence while underway. If desired, this space can easily be converted back into a fully functional guest cabin. This configuration offers an excellent balance between comfortable accommodation and generous storage capacity for extended cruising.

Visually, “Tuuli” also makes an excellent impression. The Flexiteek cockpit decking, installed during the refit, gives the exterior a modern and high-quality appearance, while the new cockpit cushions further enhance onboard comfort. The hulls have been professionally wrapped, giving the yacht a distinctive look that sets her apart from many other Lagoon 420s while maintaining a fresh and well-kept appearance. The yacht’s propulsion history is particularly interesting. The Lagoon 420 was originally delivered as the electric propulsion version. During a later conversion, she was fitted with two reliable Yanmar 3JH4E diesel engines with saildrives, while the powerful 17.5 kVA Onan generator remained on board. Today, however, the generator’s full output is generally not required for everyday onboard operation, as the yacht’s generous solar array and modern LiFePO₄ battery bank provide an almost completely self-sufficient energy supply. The generator therefore serves primarily as a valuable power reserve, capable of supplying additional loads whenever required.

For long-distance cruising and independent living aboard, “Tuuli” is exceptionally well equipped. The combination of 1,000 watts of solar power, 600 Ah LiFePO₄ battery capacity, a watermaker, washing machine, diesel heating, modern navigation electronics, comprehensive safety equipment, and a complete sail inventory makes her ready for immediate cruising without significant further investment. Numerous carefully executed upgrades and the overall quality of the installations clearly demonstrate that the yacht has been maintained and continuously improved by experienced owners.

For many years, the Lagoon 420 has been regarded as one of the most successful cruising catamarans in her size range. She combines generous living space with enjoyable sailing performance and excellent practicality. “Tuuli” stands out from comparable examples thanks to her extensive refit, exceptionally comprehensive bluewater cruising equipment, and her well-maintained overall condition.
