CONDOR – HISTORIC 55 M² SKERRY CRUISER WITH AN IMPRESSIVE RACING HERITAGE







We are pleased to offer Condor, a classic skerry cruiser and an elegant, exceptionally capable sailing yacht with a long and fascinating history in Danish sailing.



According to the available historical information, Condor was built by P. Svendsen in Kastrup in 1918, although another source states 1928 as the year of construction. She was built to the original 55 m² skerry cruiser class and, until approximately 1970, was regarded as one of Denmark’s fastest pleasure yachts.







A PIECE OF DANISH SAILING HISTORY



Over the years, Condor achieved several impressive racing results, including victories in the Round Zealand and Round Ven races.



For many years, the yacht was based at Sundet Sailing Club and originally sailed under sail number S 20. At the time, each sailing club had its own identifying letter. As the letter S is now associated with Sweden, the original sail number has not been applied to the new sails.



The burgee of Sundet Sailing Club remains engraved in the yacht’s stem fitting – an authentic and charming reminder of her long history.







EXTENSIVE RENOVATIONS



In 1990, the hull underwent another extensive rebuild. According to the current owner, the hull is now constructed in solid fibreglass with a thickness of approximately 15–30 mm.



The deck is constructed from two layers of 9 mm mahogany plywood and covered with a layer of woven fibreglass cloth. The coachroof was rebuilt using a similar construction method around the year 2000, with woven cloth laminated in epoxy.



Much of the yacht’s original interior joinery has been preserved, contributing to her authentic and traditional atmosphere below deck.







A YACHT WITH MANY MILES BEHIND HER



The current owner purchased Condor in 1980 together with three friends. The choice was largely inspired by her outstanding sailing performance.



Since then, Condor has cruised extensively throughout Scandinavia and has also completed longer voyages to England and France.







SPACIOUS ACCOMMODATION



Despite her slender and elegant lines, Condor offers generous accommodation. She is fitted with six full-size berths as well as two additional children’s berths.







RIG AND SAILS



Condor retains her original hollow Oregon pine mast. This construction was chosen to minimise weight and contributes to the yacht’s elegant and efficient sailing characteristics.



The mast measures approximately 16 metres, while the boom is approximately 6 metres long.
