"Compass Rose" is a very well built ketch, designed by Laurent Giles and built at a shipyard in Southampton in 1998. A new engine was installed in 2021 when virtually the entire driveline was replaced with new bushings, new propeller and muffler. The engine has only about 50 running hours.

The boat was ordered by Max Monsarrat and was completed in 1998. Max Monsarrat is the son of the author Nicholas Monsarrat who wrote the book "The Cruel Sea". She was named after a destroyer in the book. Max had ash trees cut down from his own plot, which he had the interior of the boat made of. Max's wife was ecclesiastically active and the boat is therefore decorated with certain details from the church.

\"Compass Rose\" é um ketch muito bem construído, projetado por Laurent Giles e construído num estaleiro em Southampton em 1998. Um novo motor foi instalado em 2021, quando praticamente toda a linha de transmissão foi substituída por novos casquilhos, nova hélice e silenciador. O motor tem apenas cerca de 50 horas de funcionamento.

O casco, a superestrutura e o fundo foram pintados de novo em 2023.
O mastro foi desmontado, pintado e inspeccionado no verão de 2024.

O barco foi encomendado por Max Monsarrat e foi concluído em 1998. Max Monsarrat é filho do escritor Nicholas Monsarrat que escreveu o livro \"O Mar Cruel\". O seu nome vem do nome de um destroyer do livro. Max mandou cortar freixos do seu próprio terreno, com os quais mandou fazer o interior do barco. A mulher de Max era eclesiástica e, por isso, o barco está decorado com alguns pormenores da igreja.
