Designed by renowned naval architect Maurizio Cossutti and built in 2018 by Ridas Yacht & Composites OÜ in Tallinn, Estonia, this 37-foot ORC racer-cruiser combines cutting-edge technology, advanced construction methods, and high-performance design. Engineered to be competitive straight out of the moulds, she offers exceptional performance both offshore and inshore.
Design
The design evolved from the successful one-off Katariina II, launched in 2015 by the same yard. While sharing a similar deck configuration and interior concept, this newer model features completely redesigned hull lines and appendages for improved speed, handling, and seaworthiness.
Hull
The hull features narrow, vertical V-shaped bow sections for smoother wave penetration and enhanced offshore capability. Forward sections transition progressively into rounder midship forms with a flatter aft run, reducing wetted surface area while improving stability and downwind performance. The result is a modern, efficient hull shape optimized for ORC racing.
Hull and deck were vacuum infused using unidirectional glass fibres to achieve an ideal balance of stiffness, strength, weight, and cost efficiency.
The PVC core material used in the hull and deck sandwich construction varies according to load requirements. High-density PVC and solid laminate reinforcement have been applied in high-impact areas such as the bow. All bulkheads are built in composite materials and fully over-laminated to both hull and deck for maximum structural integrity.
A stainless-steel structural frame, fully laminated into the hull structure, distributes keel, mast, and rigging loads efficiently throughout the yacht.
Deck
The deck layout has been developed with racing ergonomics in mind, featuring a spacious cockpit, centrally positioned steering wheel, and a low-profile coachroof that allows easy movement on deck while minimizing aerodynamic drag.
Interior
The interior is fully structural, designed to integrate with the hull and provide excellent longitudinal and transverse stiffness. Weight distribution has been carefully optimized through the use of lightweight composite panels in the extremities and marine-grade plywood in central structural areas.
Keel
The keel consists of a lead bulb with a steel core, enclosed in precision CNC-milled GRP fairings to ensure optimal hydrodynamic efficiency.
Rigging
The yacht is equipped with a Hall Spars carbon mast, carbon boomerang spreaders, and a lightweight carbon boom. The sail plan was developed in collaboration with North Sails and optimized using advanced CFD/CFO analysis techniques.
History
Originally launched as Angel Rose 2, the yacht raced successfully in the Baltic Sea circuit from 2018 to 2021, achieving numerous victories and podium finishes, including:
• Estonian ORC Champion
• Finnish ORC Champion
• 3rd Place – 2019 ORC European Championship, Oxelösund, Sweden
• 5th Place – 2021 ORC World Championship, Tallinn, Estonia
In 2022, the current owner relocated the yacht to the Mediterranean.
Upgrade & modification
In 2023, following consultation with Maurizio Cossutti and North Sails, the yacht underwent a significant upgrade to a full asymmetric configuration. A new 1.6m carbon bowsprit was installed, allowing the use of asymmetric spinnakers from 100 to 135 sqm and significantly enhancing downwind and reaching performance. The modification also enabled the use of a flying headsail, essential for offshore racing.
At the same time, the light-weather jib area was increased to improve upwind performance in lighter conditions while remaining within the ORC Class C CDL limits.
Under the management of a skilled Corinthian team the owner has continued to develop into a highly competitive ORC racer, achieving podium finishes throughout the 2025 season, including regattas such as:
• Alassio
• Gavitello d’Argento
• Tre Golfi
• 151 Miglia
The season concluded with an overall victory in ORC C at the Coppa Italia.
Sails, rigging, and onboard systems have been consistently updated and professionally maintained. The boat is offered for sale in true turn-key racing condition, ready for her next owner to compete successfully at the front of the ORC C fleet.
