Purpose-built for serious ocean cruising in all climates – from tropical trade winds to high-latitude and Arctic waters – she features a fully welded 5083 H111 aluminium hull, crash boxes forward and aft, two watertight bulkheads and a substantial watertight door separating the cockpit from the saloon. Hull plating of up to 10 mm, through-hull fittings positioned above the waterline and comprehensive insulation, including 74 mm in the hull, provide an exceptionally safe and comfortable platform for extended offshore cruising.
A Volvo Penta D2-75, combined with 950 litres of diesel capacity, twin Racor filters and a fuel-polishing system, provides reliable propulsion and excellent cruising autonomy. The lifting centreboard, offering a draft range from 1.14 to 2.90 metres, together with twin skeg-protected rudders, gives Moonlight Shadow the versatility to explore shallow anchorages while retaining the stability and performance required for serious offshore sailing.
The Hydranet sail wardrobe – including a fully battened mainsail, solent and staysail – is complemented by a spinnaker pole, upgraded ST55 primary winches and an electric winch. Sail handling is designed around the cockpit, making the yacht particularly well suited to safe and efficient short-handed sailing. Navigation equipment is equally comprehensive, centred around a complete B&G system with twin 12” Zeus chartplotters, Halo 20+ radar, AIS and autopilot, backed up by a completely independent secondary autopilot system.
Self-sufficiency is a major strength of Moonlight Shadow. Her onboard energy system includes a 3 × 200 Ah lithium battery bank, 1,170 W of solar capacity, powerful charging and inverter systems, an isolation transformer and electronic leakage monitoring for both water and electrical systems. Comfort aboard is equally well considered, with Webasto hydronic heating, hot-water system, a fully equipped galley with oven, cooker, refrigerator, freezer and microwave, as well as a washing machine. The spacious saloon provides exceptional 270-degree panoramic visibility, while the Comfort configuration includes a separate shower compartment.
Safety equipment is comprehensive and specified for serious offshore cruising, including a Viking eight-person liferaft, EPIRB, Spinlock lifejackets, safety lines and MOB equipment. Ground tackle is equally substantial, with Rocna, Spade and Fortress anchors providing options for a wide range of seabeds and cruising conditions.
Combining robust aluminium construction, carefully engineered safety systems and genuine bluewater capability with a high level of onboard comfort and self-sufficiency, Moonlight Shadow is an exceptionally well-equipped, near-new expedition yacht. Designed for owners who want the freedom to cruise well beyond conventional sailing grounds, she is equally at home exploring high latitudes or crossing oceans towards warmer waters.
Moonlight Shadow is ready for her next adventure – are you ready to cast off?
