Elan 43 – Structurally Updated, Only Cosmetic Work Remaining



The Elan 43 is a sailing yacht built by the Slovenian shipyard Elan Yachts and was introduced in 1989. This model is well known for its combination of comfort and performance, making it a popular choice among sailors looking for enjoyable cruising on both short and long passages.







Please find below a comprehensive list of upgrades and improvements carried out since 2018:



2018



New rudder tube assembly with new bearings and reinforcement of the skeg.



2019



Engine removed and fully overhauled.

Engine room painted with white epoxy (PPG).

Engine room soundproofed with 40 mm insulation and 3 mm bitumen layer.



2020



Hatch for sail locker and anchor windlass refurbished and painted.

All deck hardware removed; core material drilled out, filled with epoxy, re-drilled, and reinstalled using butyl sealant.

All seacocks and through-hulls replaced with TruDesign fittings, epoxy bonded, including TruDesign valves.

Installed B&G triple sensor, wind sensor, and Triton multifunction display.

New exhaust system installed, including hoses and waterlock from Vetus.

New grease-lubricated stern gland installed.

New seawater strainer and hoses installed.

New electric bilge pump in the keel sump.

New electric bilge pump in the engine room.

New fuel pre-filter system installed.

Major overhaul of anchor windlass and motor.

Foot switch installed for anchor windlass.

LED lighting installed in engine room.

New stainless steel stanchion bases installed.



2021



Hydraulic autopilot installed.

New distribution panel installed in starboard aft compartment.

Radio at chart table replaced.

New deck light installed.

New VHF antenna installed in mast.

NASA tri-colour and anchor light installed at masthead.

New 6 mm Dyneema lifeline installed.

New deck fillers installed.

New exhaust outlet for diesel heater installed.



2022



Cockpit teak veneer replaced with rubber granulate decking.

Custom-designed holder for 5 kg gas bottle installed in cockpit.

Engine exhaust elbow replaced.



2023



Ceiling removed in starboard aft cabin.

Ceiling and bulkheads insulated with 19 mm Armaflex.

New headliner panels with 3 mm PVC foam installed in starboard aft cabin.

All heater hoses replaced and main heating duct insulated from stern to bow.

Engine mounts replaced.

All bulbs replaced with LED lighting.

Victron BMV battery monitor, 1200W inverter/charger, and two 100Ah lithium service batteries installed.

New starter battery installed.

Victron DC/DC charger installed for charging the service bank from the alternator.

New positive and negative busbars installed.

Steel spring in the Easy Kick boom support replaced with gas strut.



2024



Hot and cold freshwater hoses replaced.

Water heater thermostat relay replaced and water heater serviced.

Aft holding tank removed and bulkhead installed beneath the starboard berth.

Forward holding tank removed.

New 130L fiberglass holding tank installed in the bow.

Deck pump-out connection installed.

Macerator pump installed for holding tank.

Charcoal filter installed for holding tank ventilation.

New Jabsco electric toilet installed aft with diverter valve.

New genoa sheet blocks installed.

New cockpit skylight installed in 10 mm acrylic, with new IPE hardwood trim around companionway.

German mainsheet system installed to keep sheets out of the cockpit.

Hull hauled out, cleaned, antifouled, and polished.



2025



New holding tank installed.

Insulating floor covering installed.

Forward cabin mattress replaced.







The boat is ready for immediate handover to her new owner.
