The Arcona 38 is a well-performing and solid quality yacht from Swedish Arcona Yachts – a builder well known for excellent sailing characteristics, high construction standards and hull designs that successfully combine comfort with performance. This is a yacht equally suited for comfortable cruising and more active club or offshore racing.

This particular yacht presents as well maintained and has benefited from significant upgrades over time, while naturally still showing some cosmetic and age-related characteristics that are important to describe openly and honestly.

The teak deck is original and shows normal wear consistent with yachts of this age, but is not considered below the standard of comparable yachts currently available on the market.

In 2024, all standing and running rigging was replaced by With Marine. For a yacht of this size and age, this represents a major and valuable investment and a very important upgrade.

In 2023, Sandøy Båtdekk AS manufactured a new laminated cabin sole, giving the interior a fresh and modern appearance.

The yacht also underwent a major technical service and upgrade programme at Kungshamns Båtservice in 2017. Works carried out included:

  • Replacement of saildrive diaphragm
  • Engine service and overhaul work including replacement of return system components
  • Inspection and service of steering system and rudder
  • Service and upgrade of gas installation
  • Replacement of autopilot drive unit
  • Installation of new anchor windlass and bow fitting
  • 20 kg stainless Bruce anchor with 40 metres of 8 mm galvanized chain
  • New battery charger
  • Updated holding tank system with deck pump-out facility


Hull through-hull fittings have been professionally inspected, with several also replaced in later years.

The yacht experienced a grounding earlier in its life which was professionally repaired by Arendal Båtservice. The repair is described as comprehensive and completed according to proper standards, and there is reason to believe the repaired area today is no weaker than when the yacht was originally built.

The sail inventory is extensive and attractive:

  • New North Sails self-tacking jib installed in 2024
  • New self-tacking track forward of mast installed simultaneously
  • Newer mainsail with limited use
  • Racing mainsail and Genoa 1 & 2 from previous years, still maintaining good shape
  • Original spinnaker supplied when the yacht was new
  • Original mainsail and jib also included


Batteries and parts of the electrical system are approximately four years old.

The navigation instruments are operational and provide good information and overview under sail.

There has previously been some condensation and leakage from the side windows. These windows have now been resealed, although there is some damage to interior woodwork in certain areas. This is primarily cosmetic and can be improved by a practical owner or a carpentry workshop should one wish to further enhance the yacht cosmetically.

Overall, this represents an honest and substantially upgraded Arcona 38 offering excellent value for money — equally suitable for buyers looking for a fast and safe cruising yacht or for those wishing to participate in regattas with a classic and well-balanced performance cruiser.
