"Compass Rose" is a very well built ketch, designed by Laurent Giles and built at a shipyard in Southampton in 1998. A new engine was installed in 2021 when virtually the entire driveline was replaced with new bushings, new propeller and muffler. The engine has only about 50 running hours.

The boat was ordered by Max Monsarrat and was completed in 1998. Max Monsarrat is the son of the author Nicholas Monsarrat who wrote the book "The Cruel Sea". She was named after a destroyer in the book. Max had ash trees cut down from his own plot, which he had the interior of the boat made of. Max's wife was ecclesiastically active and the boat is therefore decorated with certain details from the church.

\"Compass Rose\" è un ketch molto ben costruito, progettato da Laurent Giles e costruito presso un cantiere di Southampton nel 1998. Un nuovo motore è stato installato nel 2021, quando è stata sostituita praticamente l'intera trasmissione con nuove boccole, nuova elica e marmitta. Il motore ha solo 50 ore di funzionamento.

Scafo, sovrastrutture e fondo sono stati riverniciati nel 2023.
Albero smontato, verniciato e ispezionato nell'estate del 2024.
Motore revisionato nel 2024.

La barca è stata ordinata da Max Monsarrat ed è stata completata nel 1998. Max Monsarrat è il figlio dello scrittore Nicholas Monsarrat, autore del libro "Il mare crudele". Il suo nome deriva da quello di un distruttore presente nel libro. Max fece abbattere dei frassini dal suo terreno, con i quali fece costruire l'interno della barca. La moglie di Max era attiva a livello ecclesiastico e la barca è quindi decorata con alcuni dettagli della chiesa.
