Martin 29 classic cruiser with characterThe Martin 29 is a stable and fast-sailing cabin sailboat with a distinctive classic rounded hull. Built in Canada by Cooper Bros, this vessel was designed by Don Martin and, according to the seller, is a unique example in the Netherlands. With a length of 8.71 metres, a beam of 2.82 metres and a draft of 1.45 metres, she offers an attractive combination of sailing performance, comfort and practical usability. The boat is suitable for day trips, sporty sailing, weekends away and longer holidays on inland waterways, lakes, waters, rivers and at sea.

Her tiller steering provides direct contact with the rudder and the water. The single rudder ensures straightforward and familiar handling. The spacious self-draining cockpit is designed for relaxed sailing and offers room for crew and guests. Bow and stern pulpits, lifelines, fenders and lines contribute to ease of use on board. The aluminium mast and the sail plan, consisting of a mainsail, genoa, jib and storm jib, offer various options for adapting her to the conditions and the sailing itinerary.

Martin 29 now in the online auction. Everyone can place a bid until 24 August 2026.

What makes this Martin 29 special? Her classic styling, spacious interior and combination of suitability for both inland and coastal waters make this Martin 29 appealing to enthusiasts of distinctive cabin sailboats. The rounded hull gives her a stable character, while according to the seller, the hull shape also provides pleasant speed. The air draft is approximately 11.5 metres. As a result, many fixed bridges on Dutch waterways do not pose a restriction, including the Hollandse Brug and the Stichtse Brug, depending on the current waterway conditions.

The boat is in reasonable condition and was taken out of the water in 2025. That year, primer and three coats of antifouling were applied. The Yanmar diesel engine was also serviced. The fuel tank, including the sensor and gauge, and the bilge pumps were replaced. No osmosis or signs of osmosis are known. The most recent antifouling treatment also dates from 2025.

How is the interior arranged?Inside, she has a headroom of approximately 1.90 metres, which provides an impressive amount of space for a boat of this size. The accommodation consists of a spacious cabin with a dining area, galley and sleeping facilities. There are two fixed berths and space for two additional berths. One or two people can sleep in the forepeak, while the cabin can offer three to four berths, depending on the layout.

The galley has been newly and professionally fitted out. It features a two-burner alcohol stove, a stainless-steel sink, a spacious worktop and an electric tap. The many storage options make her suitable for longer stays on board. The upholstery and cushions are finished in white/cream-coloured Skai. The toilet is located in a separate compartment with a small washbasin. The manual toilet is connected to a 40-litre holding tank. The freshwater tank has a capacity of 100 litres.

What engine is installed in the Martin 29?For propulsion, she is equipped with a 1998 Yanmar 3GM30 diesel inboard engine. This three-cylinder engine has a stated output of 24 hp and is electrically started. The engine is operational and is supplied from a 45-litre diesel tank. The serial number is 09298. A battery is present for the electrical systems. Shore power is also included in the equipment.

The boat also has a fuel gauge and various navigation and communication instruments. On board are an autopilot, depth sounder, chartplotter, compass, log and speedometer, VHF radio and wind instrument. The equipment is partly by Navman and is supplemented by a GPS system, barometer and several display panels in the cockpit. The operation of the systems is unknown.

What is the condition of the rigging and sails? The sail inventory consists of a mainsail, genoa, large jib, small jib and storm jib. The sails are in reasonable condition and offer flexibility for different wind strengths. They can be operated from the cockpit, which is practical while sailing and when changing the sail configuration. However, the rigging lines need to be replaced in the short term. The old sail cover also needs to be renewed.

The deck features Gebo windows all around, a manual bilge pump and an anchor with chain, among other equipment. Her combination of classic looks, practical accommodation and existing navigation equipment makes her interesting for anyone looking for an affordable cabin sailboat with a character of her own.

This Martin 29 is waiting for an owner who will use her with care and continue to look after her. She offers space for relaxed cruises, sporty sailing days and holidays on the water. Thanks to her comfortable interior, generous headroom, diesel engine and versatile sail plan, she is a complete vessel with clear areas for attention that the new owner can address. Through Boat Auction, you have the opportunity to inspect her yourself and place a suitable bid.
