[Praktisch, robust, pflegeleicht und vielseitig einsetzbar. Mit diesen Worten lässt sich das Kabinenboot einfach beschreiben. Mit offenen Cockpit und einem meist spartanisch eingerichteten Kabinenaufbau – wahlweise mit Durchgang zum Bug – wird das Kabinenboot gerne als Fischerboot, Arbeitsboot oder auch als Übungsboot von Fahrschulen eingesetzt. Der Steuerstand kann beim Kabinenboot entweder in der Kabine oder aussen, seitlich an der hinteren Kabinenwand installiert sein. Der Innenbereich der Kabine ist je nach Marke und Bootslänge mit Sitzgelegenheiten, einer kleinen Kochgelegenheit und eventuell mit einem Chemie-WC und einer Schlafkoje ausgestattet. Typische Merkmal ist eine von glatten GFK-Flächen dominierte Bauweise. Kabinenboote werden sowohl mit Innenbord Motoren als auch mit Aussenbordmotoren angeboten.]
