[Motorboote und Motoryachten mit Flybridge zählen, auch wenn sie schon einige Jahrzehnte auf dem Markt sind, zu den jungen Erscheinungen des motorisierten Wassersports. Sie unterscheiden sich von Sportcruisern durch eine weitere begehbare und nutzbare Ebene auf dem Kabinendach. Die vom Cockpit oder von der Kabine aus über eine Leiter oder Treppe erreichbare Ebene ist in der Regel mit einem Aussensteuerstand sowie mit Sitz- und Liegegelegenheiten ausgestattet. Durch ein hoch gezogenes Freibord oder eine verkleidete Reling ermöglich die Fly ein geschütztes Sonnenbaden. Zudem hat der Skipper die Wahl, seine Yacht vom geschützten Steuerstand in der Kabine oder, mit guter Übersicht, vom erhöhten Aussensteuerstand aus zu manövrieren. Motoryachten mit Flybridge werden heute von den meisten grossen Werften als Variante zum Sportcruiser oder zur Sportyacht angeboten. Einige der namhaften Werften sind Fairline, Prinzess, Sealine, Ferretti, Azimut, Galeon usw. Das Mehr an Lebensraum und Komfort bringt allerdings auch einen Nachteil mit sich. Durch den erhöhten Aufbau besteht eine grössere Angriffsfläche für den Wind. Dies kann bei Manövern in engen Häfen zu einem Nachteil werden. Abhilfe schaffen hier Manövrierhilfen wie Bug- und Heckstrahlruder oder eine Joystick-Steuerung, die ein exaktes Manövrieren der Yacht in alle Richtungen erlaubt.]
