Aiyana was conceived around an unusually clear brief: create a performance sailing yacht capable of serious offshore passages and genuine sailing performance, while remaining manageable enough for her owner to sail without the demands normally associated with a yacht of this scale.
The project began at close to 37 metres and, over several years of development with Alan Warwick of Warwick Yacht Design, was deliberately compressed to 24.68 metres. The result is a yacht in which virtually every distinctive feature has a purpose — from her hydraulic lifting keel and raised pilothouse to her convertible accommodation and highly automated sailing systems.
Built by Alia Yachts in Antalya in advanced composite to Germanischer Lloyd standards and the MCA Commercial Code, Aiyana became the first major yacht project delivered by the yard. She was subsequently featured by Boat International in February 2011 following a sailing trial in Venice.
One owner from new, a documented history and substantial investment in recent years now place Aiyana in an unusually strong position for her next custodian.

DESIGN & PEDIGREE
Naval architecture, exterior styling and interior design are by Alan Warwick / Warwick Yacht Design, Auckland.
Built by Alia Yachts, Antalya, Aiyana is hull number one of the Warwick 82 LK design and was the yard's first major yacht project. Project management was undertaken by David Sampson of Tower Marine Management.
Her composite structure uses epoxy and E-glass with carbon reinforcement over a foam core, vacuum-bagged and post-cured, with construction undertaken to Germanischer Lloyd compliance and the MCA Small Commercial Vessel Code.
Hull construction began in October 2008 and Aiyana was launched in May 2010.

WHY AIYANA
At the centre of Aiyana's design is her hydraulic lifting keel.
With the keel lowered, her draught increases to 4.10 metres, giving the righting moment and hydrodynamic advantages expected of a deep-keel performance yacht. Raised, draught reduces to 2.28 metres, allowing access to anchorages and cruising grounds that would otherwise be unavailable to a yacht of her sailing capability.
This was not simply a technical exercise. The system formed part of the owner's original cruising brief, allowing Aiyana to approach reefs and shallower anchorages for swimming and diving, supported by dedicated equipment storage built into the stern.
A one-piece Hall Spars carbon mast, hydraulic in-boom furling, hydraulic headsail furling and powered winches substantially reduce the manpower normally required aboard a yacht of this size.
Her raised pilothouse provides an interior helm and navigation station with panoramic visibility, giving Aiyana a genuine all-weather operating position without compromising her sailing cockpit.

RECENT RENEWAL PROGRAMME
Rather than a cosmetic refresh, Aiyana has undergone a significant owner-led, system-by-system programme of renewal and upgrading, with major works undertaken at Rybovich in West Palm Beach and the programme subsequently completed with Yacht Service Group in Corfu.

Key expenditure includes:
• North 3Di Ocean 700 sail inventory — new mainsail, 2025, with only limited use since fitting; jib, 2024; and Helix top-down furling gennaker, 2024.
• Future Fibers carbon standing rigging — port-side components serviced and replaced in 2022, with the complete rig subsequently inspected and certified.
• Full topsides and superstructure respray — completed by Rybovich in 2024, including revised striping and detailing.
• Volvo Penta D4 260 hp main engine — renewed and re-installed, with low hours since completion.
• Electrical system — complete new ASEA-specification installation.
• Air-conditioning — complete renewal, including a new chilled-water system forward of the bar.
• Tender — new 2024 tender with Yamaha 60 hp outboard, housed within Aiyana's integrated tender storage and transom launch arrangement.
• Sevenstar transport cradle — recertified and upgraded in Spring 2025.
• Interior and exterior soft furnishings — renewed and refreshed.
With the Yacht Service Group programme now completed, Aiyana has been relaunched and is currently afloat in Corfu.

SAILING & TECHNICAL

Aiyana is configured as a four-spreader masthead sloop with a one-piece seamless Hall Spars carbon mast of approximately 35 metres, Oceanfurl hydraulic in-boom furling boom and carbon spinnaker and jockey poles.
Future Fibers carbon standing rigging complements an upwind sail area of 298.6 m² / 3,213 sq ft.

Her hydraulic lifting keel operates between 2.28 m and 4.10 m draught, with a ballast bulb and deep composite spade rudder.
Displacement is approximately 49,500 kg at half load, with 15,000 kg of ballast and a stated righting moment of 42,814 kgm at 25°.
Twin cockpit helms are complemented by the interior pilothouse helm.
Max Power 34 hp bow and stern thrusters assist close-quarter manoeuvring, while her hydraulic furling headstay, hydraulic windlass and swing-out carbon anchor arm allow the anchoring system to disappear below deck level when not in use.
Four watertight bulkheads plus a collision bulkhead forward of the crew quarters contribute to her offshore design philosophy.
INDEPENDENTLY RECORDED SAILING PERFORMANCE
During Boat International's 2011 sailing trial, Aiyana recorded:
7–7.5 knots in 8 knots true wind at approximately 50° true
9 knots at 24° apparent in 12 knots true
10 knots cracked off
The significance is not simply the figures themselves, but that they were recorded independently during a published sailing trial rather than taken from builder estimates.

ACCOMMODATION
Aiyana accommodates six guests in three permanent en-suite staterooms, with accommodation expandable to eight through the conversion of the lower saloon.

Twin berths convertible to a queen, with private en-suite.

The lower saloon can be enclosed to create an additional private double guest cabin, using a motorised sliding ceiling and double doors from the bar.
Crew
Forward crew accommodation benefits from its own deck entrance and separate circulation to the galley, allowing crew movement without passing through the principal guest areas.
Raised Pilothouse Saloon
The principal saloon provides dining and entertaining space for six to eight guests, lounge seating, entertainment facilities and Aiyana's interior helm and navigation station, surrounded by near-360-degree visibility.
Her interior is finished in matched-grain Sapelle mahogany with burl inlays, leather and textured fabric panels, marble bathroom vanities and acoustic fabric headliners.
Even the lifting-keel casing is incorporated into the interior joinery, finished in mahogany with wengé detailing.

OWNERSHIP & CARE
Aiyana has remained with the same owner since new.
Her maintenance and renewal history includes work carried out at recognised facilities including STP Palma, Newport Shipyard, Rybovich in West Palm Beach and Yacht Service Group in Corfu.
For her Atlantic movements she was transported aboard Sevenstar rather than accumulating delivery mileage under her own keel, using her dedicated Lloyd's-specification transport cradle.
That cradle was rebuilt and upgraded in Spring 2025.

PUBLISHED HISTORY
Aiyana was the subject of a full Boat International feature by Tim Thomas in February 2011 following a sailing trial in Venice.
The article documents the development of the yacht, the owner's brief, Alan Warwick's approach to the design and the sailing performance recorded during the trial.
The Warwick 82 LK design subsequently received recognition at the International Superyacht Society Design Awards.

CURRENTLY IN CORFU
Aiyana's owner-led renewal programme has now been completed and she has been successfully relaunched.
She is currently afloat in Corfu and available for private viewings by appointment.
