Refurbishments
The boat has not undergone any refurbishments since its construction.
The deck was renewed in 2014 with Burmese teak, and two layers of fibreglass with epoxy were added between the base deck plywood and the new teak deck. Audax Marina
In 2017, two additional layers of E-Glass fibre with epoxy resin were applied over the original layers. The work was carried out at the Sinergia shipyard in Cartagena. It was finished with an epoxy barrier coat and topped with International white topcoat primer and paint.
General condition
The following photos show the condition and layout of the boat.
HULL. In December 2016, the hull was sandblasted, left to dry for two months, and two layers of fibreglass with epoxy, layers of epoxy barrier, levelling compound, primer and antifouling were applied to the underwater hull.
Mast, shaft, propeller, rudder
The bow and mast are made of bronze and are in perfect condition. The sternpost and rudder bushings were replaced during this dry-docking.
Seacocks: In good condition, made of bronze. The cockpit bilge valves were replaced in 2022.
Deck and Superstructure
The boat has no cabin or superstructure; the deck is arched to form the cabin.
The teak deck was renewed in 2012. Below deck, the mahogany panelling is preserved in good condition. The interior varnish is currently being renewed
Accommodation: The varnish on the hull, bulkheads and fittings was renewed between 2013 and 2015. The varnish on the ceiling and floors is currently being renewed.
The following photos demonstrate the quality of construction and the good condition of the hull.
General condition of the boat in the expert’s opinion
The boat is in a very good state of repair, with the hull, rigging and new engine all in good condition. Refurbishing the hull by drying it out and applying new fabric with epoxy and an anti-osmosis protective barrier could extend the life of this hull for another 50 years without any problems, just as it has been until now.
The construction is of high quality and fine timbers have been used, which has helped to keep it in good condition.
The quality and construction method used, with moulded frames and bronze rivets, shows that this is a boat built using cold-moulded wood to lighten the hull.
The semi-sandwich construction of wood clad with fibreglass and epoxy resin gives this boat the advantages of a modern fibreglass vessel, but with the comfort of wood.
The rigging and sails are in good condition, ready to sail in optimal conditions under both sail and motor.

The vessel was built for the shipyard, as it was intended to serve as a model for
producing the moulds for the manufacture of a small series of yachts of the very highest quality
with finishes entirely in wood and only the hull in fibreglass.
To this end, once the hull had been completed, it was sent on 16 March 1973 to the
company INTERMARINE in Sarzana, in the province of La Spezia.
This company, a leader at the time in the processing of plastic materials, before
manufacturing the moulds, laminated a thin layer of fibreglass onto the model sent to them for the sole purpose of ensuring a waterproof and stable substrate to produce moulds free from
imperfections caused by the movement of the wood or the absorption of resin and the porosity of any fillers.
Given the excellent result achieved, the fibreglass coating was never
removed.
Upon the hull’s return to the shipyard, its outfitting began; given its
primarily sporting use and for the exclusive use of the shipyard’s own team, this was carried out in a
spartan manner, with particular attention paid to lightness.
And it was precisely towards the end of the outfitting process that the Florentine skipper Riccardo Lenzi, in
his capacity as co-head of the sailing section of the BELGIAN YACHT SPORT
CLUB in BRUSSELS, had the club acquire it and took it to regattas in the
Mediterranean. The boat was therefore classified in the second I.O.R. class with a
certificate issued by the A.I.C.I. in Rome. The sail number assigned to it was I – 6453.
This declaration is issued today, 26 June 2010, solely and exclusively for the
purposes permitted by law.
