The Dragonfly 40 is the flagship of the Dragonfly range and an ideal fast-cruising yacht for couples, with ample space for family or friends.
The sailing performance is fantastic, yet the boat remains confidence-inspiring and remarkably easy to handle, even in stronger winds. It is this combination of performance and ease of handling that makes the Dragonfly 40 so special for us.
The living space is considerably larger than that of the Dragonfly 36, which makes it a luxurious and very comfortable boat for extended cruising or weekend sailing. The interior design, with natural elm wood veneer and high-quality materials, follows the tradition of Scandinavian high-end yacht design.
Our boat was built in 2021 and is in excellent condition. It has been optimised for safe, short-handed sailing by a couple, thanks to a Reckmann Mainfurl furling boom, electric furlers for the genoa and the Code 0, and four electric winches in the cockpit. Part of the Dragonfly concept is that all lines are led back to the cockpit, making the layout ergonomically superb and particularly well suited to short-handed sailing. Experienced sailors could easily sail this boat single-handed.
The amas provide substantial additional storage, with six access hatches in total, three on each side. This includes one large aft “canoe hatch” on each ama, making it particularly convenient for storing bulkier cruising equipment. One ama is also equipped with a "crane" for lifting heavier items from the water or from the ama.
The boat is equipped with the more powerful optional 57 hp Yanmar diesel engine and Sleipner bow and stern thrusters for easy harbour manoeuvring.
We spent this summer sailing in Denmark while preparing our boat for a multi-year journey to Greece, with stops in Brittany and Italy. Unfortunately, our circumstances have changed, which is why we are selling the boat.
