EXCEPTIONAL FOR SALE: UNIQUE ALUMINUM CATAMARAN – CATBIRD 47 (1988)
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to acquire a unique aluminum catamaran, the CATBIRD 47, designed by the renowned naval architect Michel Francqueville and built in France in 1988. This robust catamaran has been family-cruised through the Caribbean, then Panama, the Bahamas, and back across the Atlantic. It is currently located in Paimpol and is offered for sale due to the end of the voyage and a return to work.
Main Characteristics:
Designer: Michel Francqueville
Model: CATBIRD 47 (One-Off)
Year: 1988
Hull material: Aluminum
Dimensions: 14 m x 7.6 m
Light displacement (approx.): 10 tons
Layout: 4 cabins with washbasins, office area, galley, saloon and chart table in the nacelle, 2 toilets, 1 shower
The boat can be considered unsinkable, thanks to:
Two watertight compartments 2 m long in the bow
Watertight collision bulkheads fore and aft of approx. 1.2 m in each hull
A watertight collision compartment in the forward part of the nacelle
Complete Refit (2020–2026):
Initially neglected in terms of maintenance, this boat has undergone a complete refit with constant attention to weight reduction, simplicity, and safety, aiming for good sailing performance and easy maintenance.
Insulation: Full PU spray insulation over the entire hull to eliminate thermal bridges, in good condition. During the refit, additional multilayer insulation was added everywhere behind joinery, ceilings, etc.
Hull: Excellent condition. Underwater hull stripped bare in 2022, application of 4 coats of epoxy primer before antifouling. Complete professional paint job of the hull (boot stripe) and deck in 2022.

Complete change of rig type with removal of backstays and furling mast
Installation of a new Sparcraft mast (France) with corresponding structural study
