Swan 38, Thorhildur – A Yacht with a Truly Special Story

Some boats are simply boats. Others become part of a family's history. Thorhildur belongs to the latter category.

The yacht has had only two owners throughout her lifetime. The first owner was a Swedish businessman who maintained her to the highest standards. After every season, she was hauled out and serviced at a professional boatyard, with no compromises on maintenance or cost. At the time, the yacht was based in Karlstad and was primarily used for trips to the owner's private island on Lake Vänern.

The current owner's parents fell in love with the boat the very first time they saw her. In fact, they drove to Sweden three times to ask if they could buy her. Each time, the answer was no. Only when the water level around the island became too low for the owner to use the yacht as intended did he finally agree to sell. That was when the current owner's parents fulfilled a lifelong dream.

When it came time to name the yacht, the current owner's parents wished to name her after Her Majesty Queen Margrethe, whose Icelandic name is Thorhildur. They therefore wrote to Her Majesty to ask for permission. The answer was yes, and the original letter is still displayed on board – a unique piece of the yacht's history that will accompany her to her next owner.

The current owner's father cared for Thorhildur as if she were a member of the family. Maintenance was never neglected, and she has always received the care she deserved. As a family, we have enjoyed countless unforgettable experiences on board. Thorhildur has taken us on extended cruises to destinations including the Åland Islands, Bergen, Poland, and the Netherlands, always providing a reassuring sense of safety and confidence.

The yacht is fitted with a newer engine offering slightly more power than the original specification, providing extra performance and reliability under power.

For the current owner, Thorhildur has always been a yacht where everything simply works. Her sailing characteristics are exceptional, inspiring confidence and comfort in all conditions. Even rough weather has never felt like an obstacle – rather, the yacht has always turned it into part of the adventure.

The teak deck is ready for refurbishment, as shown in the accompanying photos. Otherwise, the yacht presents well and is in good overall condition.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a yacht from the renowned Swan yard, famous worldwide for exceptional build quality, timeless craftsmanship, and outstanding sailing performance.
