The rowing boat is nowadays used for different purposes and is therefore offered in various shapes and differing materials. Originally, the rowing boat was made of wood, as well as the rudder and tiller controlling the rowing boat. Modern rowing boats are now often made from wood composite, laminated plastics (GRP), and molded plastics. Depending on the nature of the transom, the rowing boat can be equipped with a small outboard engine. Alternatively, there are rowing boats equiped with a small rigging which allows sails to be installed.
