Notes

1992 Westerly Oceanlord 41, EUR 95,000

Classic British Offshore Cruiser, extensively modernized

The Westerly Oceanlord 41 was developed from the successful Sealord and designed as a spacious cruising yacht for extended voyages and more demanding passages. The design by Ed Dubois and Mike Parham combines a classic, relatively slender hull with a well-protected centre cockpit, generous interior accommodation and a practical deck layout for a yacht of this size. Westerly placed particular emphasis on solid construction, ease of handling and comfortable living aboard. The Oceanlord has consequently established itself over many years as a capable offshore and bluewater cruising yacht.

The Oceanlord 41 “Maururu”, built in 1992, has been sailed exclusively in the Baltic Sea and has seen only limited use due to time constraints. During the winter months, she was stored ashore in a covered shed, protected from weather and frost. Her operating area, predominantly in brackish water, also distinguishes her from many Oceanlords that have spent extended periods in salt water.

In 2025 and 2026, the yacht underwent a series of targeted technical improvements. The headsail furling system was replaced with a new Selden 304 S. At the same time, all running rigging, including the mainsail halyard, headsail halyard, spinnaker halyard and topping lift, was replaced. The mainsail and genoa were serviced and repaired by a sailmaker. The furling system and headsail car were also overhauled, and the sails were re-rigged.

Particular attention was given to the rudder blade. It was completely ground back and dried, then sandblasted, re-foamed, re-laminated externally and coated with Coppercoat. The attachment of the rudder quadrant was also reworked and re-welded. The underwater hull was cleaned and the Coppercoat activated, while the topsides were machine polished, waxed and sealed. The teak deck was cleaned and subsequently treated twice with Bocarol.

Various systems on board were also serviced. The warm-air heating system was repaired and the freshwater system inspected. In 2025, a Liontron 200 Ah lithium battery with BMS and Bluetooth was installed, providing a modern and powerful energy supply. The yacht is also equipped with a solar system, wind generator, generator and shore power connection.

As early as 2023, the previous owner had invested in the yacht’s comfort and upkeep. The sprayhood, harbour and winter covers, as well as the hatch covers made from matching sprayhood fabric, were newly manufactured. The underwater hull also received new antifouling, and a Mercury four-stroke outboard was purchased for the dinghy.

“Maururu” is a lightly used Oceanlord 41 with a clear focus on technical maintenance and improvements in recent years. Many of the more recent works are documented by invoices. She offers her next owner a classic and spacious cruising yacht on which significant work has already been carried out on the rig, rudder, underwater hull, electrical system and onboard equipment.

The “Maururu” is currently located in Flensburg and can be viewed by appointment.
