1986 Reinke Taranga — €5,900

I bought SEESAM about ten years ago and have sailed her around the Mediterranean, enjoying many experiences and memorable moments at sea. She is a boat with plenty of character and personality, but my work now leaves me without enough time to sail and maintain her properly.

I am therefore looking for someone with the experience, practical skills and time to take care of her: someone who sees the opportunity to acquire an affordable steel sailing yacht, complete the outstanding work and get her sailing again. I want to be clear that she is not being sold as a boat ready to sail, but as a project with plenty of potential for someone who enjoys working on their own boat.

SEESAM is a 10-metre steel Reinke Taranga cruising yacht, built in 1986 to a design by Kurt Reinke. She is currently afloat in Valencia, Spain.

Specifications and equipment:

• Length: 10.00 m; beam: 3.25 m; approximate draft: 1.45 m.
  
• Hard-chine steel hull; approximately 6 tonnes displacement.
  
• Volvo Penta 2003 diesel engine, 28 hp / approximately 20.6 kW.
  
• Mainsail and jib from 2015, plus additional and spare sails.
  
• Working solar panels on the port and starboard sides.
  
• Shore power, 12 V electrical system and working battery charger.
  
• Working 12 V refrigerator/coolbox.
  
• New interior cushions made in 2025.
  
• Brand-new anchor chain and electric anchor windlass, included but not yet installed.
  
• Wheel steering with emergency tiller.
  
• Boat-specific technical manual and historical construction documentation available.
  

The boat needs recommissioning and maintenance before sailing. There are localised areas of rust in the bilge, bow and stern that need to be inspected and repaired. No ultrasonic steel-thickness measurements have been carried out.

She also needs to be hauled out so that the underwater hull can be inspected and prepared, the rust spots treated and the hull repainted with a suitable epoxy coating system. The exact coating system should be decided after the steel has been inspected. The anodes also need to be checked or replaced.

The engine needs maintenance and recommissioning. The batteries need to be charged and tested, and some instruments require attention.

The price clearly reflects the outstanding work. For someone with experience of steel boats and the time to invest in the project, this could be an affordable way to own a cruising yacht and get her sailing again.

The berth is paid until 31 December 2026. Continued use by the buyer is subject to approval by the marina.

Personal belongings are not included. The final inventory of included equipment will be agreed with the buyer.
